Add Ghost Recon to the list of dead franchises. Ubi announced a F2P battle royale game. Talk about completely ignoring their established fanbase, they fully deserve the dislike ratio'ing on this trailer.

GTA PS2 trilogy remasters rumoured (
https://archive.vn/bd7no)
Could be good. The controls of PS2 trilogy have certainly aged badly. Ironically keyboard + mouse is the best option to play them today, since you can completely ignore the horrid lock on aiming.
I'll wait until the fanbase analyses the released products with a fine-toothed comb before I consider buying. You can't trust remasters or remakes from modern day Western developers. Censorship is rife. All of the GTAs to date where made when politically incorrect humour and satire was the norm.
Again I was right, censorship of GTA trilogy PS2 remasters confirmed. The Confederate flag has been removed from Phil Cassidy's shirt in Vice City.
The days of Rockstar behaving like rock stars and trying to sell on controversy are long over. They're afraid of upsetting the establishment like everybody else.

Better than being afraid of upsetting the edgelords who will actually give a crap about that particular change.

What else could be censored? Radio station and/or billboards satirical content? Picking up hookers? The little that some people seem to care about game preservation and/or artistic expression when it comes to games is astounding.
Whatever, people who support censorship like this get the industry that they deserve. No skin off my back, I own the originals on several platforms.

You're not even American, why do you care about the Confederate flag?

I'm against censorship. You can't call a release with less content than the original release a "Definitive Edition".
I won't be surprised if the other shoes drop and a whole bunch of sexual content is censored. Eg Vice City had a whole set of missions where you're advertising a porn studio. We've already have a precedent set with the GTA 5 PS5/Xbox Series remaster:- a bikini girl pin-up poster has been removed from an office during a cutscene.

Then there's the other matter of all of the licensed music that have been absent from subsequent releases of these games. Again, you can't call it a "Definitive Edition" when there's less content.

The creator of something making changes to it isn't censorship. Those changes might be terrible, but the moral outrage is hilarious and misguided.
But hey, if a pixelated "i'm a stupid racist redneck" shirt is the hill you want to die on, knock yourself out.

Are you trying trot out that tired bootlicker hand wave of "censorship only exists when the government is doing it?" LOL. No mental gymnastics can change reality, self-censor exists.
The remasters are going to mobile platforms, so there is a possibility the Confederate flag censorship was to appease Apple and/or Google. Eg (
https://web.archive.org/web/20211023143810/https://www.vg247.com/apple-removes-american-civil-war-games-from-the-app-store-over-confederate-flag) American Civil War games have had trouble meeting Apple app store certifications in the past. AAA developers are lazy, so I can totally see them pushing any vendor mandated changes across all platforms, rather than try to maintain separate SKUs.

That’s possible, but maybe the devs’ opinions on their own work changed and they didn’t want to have a confederate flag in it anymore. Are the obligated to keep it in because they thought it was funny back in the day?
If we’re taking about censorship, retroactively removing things from existing works is one thing, but changing what’s in a remake to suit what’s culturally appropriate now is altogether another. The issue is not as black and white as you’re making it out to be.

Repeated for emphasis.

They said nothing that implied that.
Censorship is unethical because you're restricting another person's choices, and thus their freedom. If you're restricting
yourself, you're not diminishing your freedom, you're just making a decision. If Rockstar forced an employee to delete controversial posts on their personal social media, that would be censorship, with its ethical consequences. Changing something controversial about their own creation is just revision. It might be revision that detracts from the original work, but it doesn't have the ethical ramifications of censorship.
As for this revision: for a time the confederate flag had a dual meaning. To most groups it remained a symbol of slavery, but to some white people it was inexplicably a symbol of personal liberty. But now this duality is gone. The meanings of the symbol have merged, and this revision is akin to removing outmoded slang.
