Thread Necromancy Warning: The post you're replying to is more than 30 days old.
So, why is replying to a old post in a highly active (and long ;)) thread "Thread Necromancy" !?
Replying to a old post that might be well forgotten by the post author is perfectly ok - imo. (As if i wanted to tell something to the post author i would use PM - but i'm more likely to share my thoughts about what he said ... etc.)
Would it not make more sense to use the last post date in that warning (or just remove the "thread necromancy" part from it)?
[no, not a big problem - just wondering]

It uses the date of the post you are quoting, or the final post if you are not quoting.
It is done this way as these parameters are already passed in the URL and do not require any additional fiddling or queries.

Aah... ok. Laziness+efficiency. Fine for me.

It's an interesting feature I, ironically, discovered while replying to a Necromancer's Tower discussion in Thief Spoilers. So at first glance I thought it has to do with the discussion and didn't think of it much... until next time I replied to something in that same forum group.
I suppose it's a good thing to discourage people from dragging chewed-and-digested discussions from the crypt, but some discussions (like the said spoilers and hints) are more immune to the problem.

It's not so much a question of discouraging it as it is information that the thread is older. Sometimes people will search up a thread and reply to it thinking that the issue is still going on or similar. Then someone says "Dude, did you not notice this thread was started 3 years ago?" and the person who resurrected it says :o
It's actually better in some forums (FM discussion for instance) to resurrect old threads that you want to add to etc, mainly for Great Searchability.
So, yeah... Consider it a Thread Necromancy Notification, an FYI rather than a HAY STOP kinda thing.

The ironic part is the thread starter is named zombe.

Wondering here by certain people is illegal.
Not a democracy.
.com, not .org.
Shame.
