I really wish they'd go back to the way levels worked in Daggerfall. It was perfect. Leveling was a lot slower so you weren't flying by all the leveled content, plus the max level was about 20 so you didn't become insanely powerful in stats. The way you could assign your character Advantages/Disabilities was superior to the lame preassigned birthsigns too.

I don't mind the Birthsigns, I actually think it's relatively original. What I don't like, is that the VAST majority of them are worthless.

That depends a lot on playstyle. There are only two Birthsigns I'd label as worthless: The Lady and The Steed.
The Warrior provides the same Endurance boost as The Lady while also granting a much more useful buff to Strength, the Willpower from The Lady is not as useful for anyone. Casters, who would gain the most from the Willpower, can easily max that attribute while Strength is harder to get up. And fighters will rarely notice a +1 Magicka/second, while they will easily be able to use +10 Strength all the time - more loot and more damage.
The Thief provides 10 less Speed than The Steed, but has 10 Luck (that's 10 levels worth of Luck) and 10 Agility instead. While an additional 10 Speed can be useful it is nowhere near as good as 10 Agi+10 Luck.
The Mage, The Apprentice and The Atronarch are all useful for casters and which one is most useful depends on the playstyle. Personally I wouldn't be bothered by the disappearance of The Mage and The Apprentice, for me The Atronarch is by far the most overpowered Birthsign.
The six power signs are hard to compare, but they all have their uses.

Has anyone ever used "The Tower"?

I have, since it's my original birthsign. Didn't notice much difference. Maybe it's what saved my life when I took on Umbra, who knows. I haven't used it all that much, mostly cause I want to, you know, save it for when I really need it, but also because as I said I didn't notice much difference. Now that I'm creating and collection various shielding equipment and potions I'll probably use it more often to give myself a temporary 100% shield and see how that works.
This is a kind of bitch on Oblivion thread I see. I can't believe I hadn't noticed it before. As much as I LOVE Oblivion I'm going to have to make up my own list and post later cause I do love to complain about anything and everything. And a lot of these bitches are quite good. Never thought about how totally worthless most of the birthsigns were, for example. I mean of course I noticed it but always thought it was just me.

Oblivion was over too soon.
I mean i've already done the main quest, the dark brotherhood, and the thieves guild, and i don't play it too much.
:(
It also lacks the environmental depth of morrowind.

True, but Character depth is increased a lot. As has been said before, people do feel for the characters and dont want them to die, e.g. the DB stuff. Though I would have prefered a minature party to go around with you, like in Kotor 1. Though the problem with this is your allies deciding to jump in front of your sword

Oblivion is as long as you make it. I have been playing since Day 1. I was actually the first around here to get it. I have been playing every day at least 6-8 hours (benefits of being a small business owner), and I am probably only half done. Haven't even started the mage's guild.
