Oh, and another thing before I retire:
Sometime during the main quest, I switched from a melee to a spell caster, AKA I switched from wearing +50 to blunt gear to +250 magicka gear, and used spells instead of my mace.
I can say for sure that spell casters are more powerful than melee, and if I were to do it again I'd probably go pure spell caster, then add melee later(int/willpower first, then strength/agility).
I had difficulty killing things with any decent rapidity(It was all possible, just took a while), but as a spell caster I became a pillar of destruction. I have around 600ish magicka, and can cast a spell that does 300 instant damage. Almost every non-named mob at level 44 dies with one hit. I finally recieved the power that the Tuco legacy deserved.

My primary tought so far is that I have had more fun playing through the Dark Brotherhood questline than I did playing through the entirety of Thief III...Which is saying quite a bit because I, unlike most people, loved T3 for the most part. Dark Brotherhood is soooo satisfying, and each kill gets more fun and creative. And the plot twists...oooh...THIS is how to craft a great storyline. I only hope the other guilds' quests are as awesome.

I find the AI conversations to be less than convincing, especially when each character says the same thing. Inevitably, the dialog is also too limited and therefore repetitive - this seems to be more annoying with spoken dialog because you can't skim over the text. At least the topics of conversation respond well to game events, so you hear people talking about your exploits.

it comes closer to being the "real life" game, with a living, breathing world, than any previous attempts
It does help that the NPCs don't just hang around all day. People walk about, go to sleep, appear to be drinking at the pub (although knocking back ale at an alarming rate). I've come across the odd traveler, and the bandits and highwaymen make travelling more interesting.
Also, has anyone else felt that being unable to use a weapon on horseback is a bit of a pain in the arse? Seems like a bit of an oversight.

It sucks. I imagine they had problems properly incorporating it OR it was horribly unbalanced. I can't imagine someone as thorough as Bethesda was in making this game, "missing" that.

Maybe they'll patch it back in if we're lucky.

Yeah, it's kinda clunky, watching your view go to 3rd person (:eww: ), S_L_O_W_L_Y getting down off of the horse, equipping weapon, all the while you horse is getting owned by a troll....

I read all the articles in this section and i agree and disagree with a few things,
but for the most part Oblivion is SOOO much better than the original. Having a horse is an awesome aspect that they put in the game, but it truly is just darn right annoying that you cant attack on the horse! stuff spending like 5000g on a horse only for it to die because you have taken a ride in the country!!! and then they say they have a horse armour pack but you have to PAY REAL MONEY for it? why not make it a quest reward?
and yeah totally agree with the inventory crap! what the hell? they spend like 10 million hours on making the graphics INSANELY cool so that you have to have a computer with jumbo jet sized fans and a graphics card the size a motherboard, and then make the menu system look like your 5 years old again reading a kiddies book!? The fighting is actually very impressive, this is one aspect (if you have a fast computer) they mastered. the shield ACTUALLY blocks! makes the game seem more real.
Overall Im very impressed and will play this for many hours, but honestly i think they made a few very OBVIOUS errors that hopefully they will patch

Thoughts:
Horses: Nearly useless. Annoying as hell to have to dismount, not really all that fast, and using them deprives you of athletics and acrobatics boosts. I only use them when I think I'm heading into the mountains, since they seem to slip less then people do.
Combat: Melee is very nice in 1 on 1 or 1 on 2 situations. Not so good when more enemies get involved, terrible when allies get involved cause they LOVE to jump in the way of swings. Archery is kind of fun, but unimpressive. Magic is very effective - but the actual graphical effects seem so 2001. Sad, considering how good the rest of the game looks.
Stealth: It kicks ass.
Quests: A huge, huge improvement over morrowind. They actually interested me. Dark Brotherhood alone is > all of morrowind combined.
Leveling system: I didn't like it. Apparently I wasn't the only one, as the modding community fixed all of my major concerns with it, so I like it just fine.
Interface: Jesus fucking christ, let me bind keys to take me directly to the overworld map or local map or the weapons screen, ect. The subsections of the main divisions, not just the main divisions. And put the damn shift-click functionality back in the inventory/shop menus. Constant confirmations just piss me off.

 Me too. Especially when it starts going at like 3 fps in the menu and won't register a click.

The thing that gets on my nearves is that yes, the graphics are great, and yes, if your comp cant handle them you can turn things like view distance down, but can you turn down how much magic effects eat up your framerate? no! Now Im stuck with walking at 2-3 fps whenever I go too near an Oblivion Gate, or if someone decides to conjure something. Everything else is fine, its just those two things.
