I've got good impressions so far.
For all of the game's flaws and shortcomings, it comes closer to being the "real life" game, with a living, breathing world, than any previous attempts.
The shortcomings and missing things?
Thats why you buy the PC version, not the console version. I'm willing to trade out some lack of fluidity in the controls for the ability to tweak aspects of the game I don't like.
On that note, I've been wondering if it would be possible to adjust the way stolen items work. The more valuable the item, the more likely it should be that you get caught/fined etc for the theft, ditto for having it confiscated.

I am currently chasing after that cheating merchant in the City, and I am liking the game a lot so far. While on the one hand I do kind of miss the small map in the corner of the screen, and that skeleton did seem to turn away and shoot in a wrong direction, otherwise I think there are some better things that happened to the game since Morrowind. For instance, I like it how the alchemy interface is handling the list of ingredients once you fill in the first slot. Immersion seems higher, and the people finally seem to be more alive than before.
So far so good. :thumb:

Every dungeon so far has been an awesome ~30minutes challenging dungeon crawl. :thumb:
They're not to long(daggerfall...), and not to short(morrowind), but just the right length and usually with some sort of goodie waiting for you. Not mention they are all unique, but not randomly made. All the little details you'll see are just damn impressiv.
And the quests... No fedex or simple kill him or that quests. They really went all the way to create some rich and interesting quests. Some even with that odd plot twist at the end that you never saw coming.:D
Look beyond the minor flaws, and instead admire the beauty of it.

So far the game is a mixed bag for me. There's some things that I like a lot, such as the AI and the pretty graphics. However:
- The inventory management and other menus suck ass. Totally and utterly. The person who came up with the idea of only using icons AND not having tool-tips should be beaten, dragged naked down a gravel road by their feet, and then rolled in salt and lemon juice.
- The minigames are annoying. Make them go away.
- I much preferred Morrowind's dialogue windows to Oblivion's "stop everything and zoom in on the NPC to distract the player with eye-candy, so he doesn't notice the bad writing, redundant responses, and awful voice acting" approach.
Other than that, I like the game.

Dislikes:
The stat/inventory/spellbook/map/journal mess, Morrowind is far superior in this regard. Oblivion makes me feel like I'm playing a game for poor sighted people. The conversation interface also suffers.
The inability to sort items/spells by type (eg. all helmets after each other, all Destruction spells together).
The magic system was butchered. Badly. There are spells for sale that will drain a High Elf/Atronarch in one cast.
No Mark/Recall spells. No Mages Guild teleporters. No public transportation. Map Travel is the only saving grace for this in Oblivion.
Likes:
The possibility of using Alchemy to make poisons for your weapon.
The fact that you can raid your guild for sellable items and sell them back to your guildmates :joke:
Most of the rest of the game.

Okay, russian... but still...

No, but only because she's just the artist for the interface artwork. Well, that plus she's hot.

Get the sand out of your vagina, the AI is pretty good in this game. Not perfect, but pretty good.
Screw you tuco. Wasn't even talking to you. Get my dick out of your mouth.

I guess we're paying some sort of a price for progress, i.e., the ability to play with a game pad :erm:  Though the absence of tooltips is certainly weird. How do I know why my Speed and Endurance stats are in red?

You may not have been talking to me, but my ears were filled with your blathering idiocy, just as you're fantasizing gay shit with me.
But beyond the rubes, I beat Oblivion today, it was pretty cool, the ending that is, but I'm surprised Fargoth made an apperance and defeated the end-boss with the help of Sheograth.
I'm master of the fighters and mages guild, and I started the thieves guild this evening, and got annoyed by it... I have the skeleton key and the ability to get 120% chameleon, which is nice, but running around pick pocketing people for chump change is annoying when I can clear out a cave and get roughly 1000 times the profit in the same amount of time.
I think my next goal is to get all the artifacts, but that'll prove difficult as I am unaware of all the daedra ruins.
