I'm picking this thing up having last touched it a year ago.
I still think that the "prequel" games suffer badly from having so many "Final Fantasy" type elements like HR's Midgar ripoff city and the Golem in ManKind Divided. Those things hurt the game badly because one of the things that made the first Deus Ex believable is that most of the settings were grounded in real life shitty places and more or less believable as something that could actually exist.
References to original game characters seem fairly forced and there's no clear parallel between the two that doesn't feel forced.
New aug systems are neat although some of them tend to trivialize some of the gameplay challenges. It's basically improved Human Revolution but with a bigger toolbox (and unfortunately some kind of framerate/memory leak issue).
