If you do the side missions for the Colonel and General of Duty, they all turn friendly. (Green in your cross-hairs).
I had a similar problem of this original thread starter, and I ended up reinstalling my Creative sound drivers again. It was somehow making STALKER not like the higher graphic settings. :confused:

I think I joined Freedom. Because it said "Freedom" in my Group stat and Dutyers were shooting me on sight.
