Yes it is too bad the dev's on some of these games don't get it for us PC players. Consoles may sell more now but they will lose money from us even more if they don't change this terrible oversight and wonder why. Surely if they want to try and keep us and take the time to keep PC coding in their games, they must also code properly for saves as well. Just the idea of having to restart over and over from the last save point when you've managed to almost to the next point and then your on your last few life points you die, is a real bummer!!! NO Thanks! They may think it's supposed to be more realistic but for me it spoils the fun of playing. But I appreciate the fact that someone agrees with me. ;)

Hopefully, the reason for your stay in hospital wasn't too serious.

Especially since some people already argued that on modern consoles, the "checkpoint save" method is not needed anymore. Which would mean it's just a
design choice by now.

Hey, did you look over my shoulder when I played
Far Cry lately?:cheeky:
And just now (
http://www.afterdawn.com/news/article.cfm/2010/05/19/ubisoft_sees_giant_slide_in_sales) Ubisoft sees giant slide in sales. They're the ones distributing
Far Cry here, as well as the ones using their new Digital Rights Management system requiring permanent internet access, and so on. Although the reasons for their financial losses may no be connected to any of these issues, it's still satisfactory to see that sometimes, the right companies get punished by the almighty market. Or, as someone commented on that article:
"HEHE...serves them right! Maybe if they didn't spend so much on pissing off customers, they would have made a profit!"I could not have said it better.:ebil:

as well as having to play on-line just to play a single player game!!! What the devil do they think that's going to do..REALLY??? That's another reason I won't buy those games! Originally I was interested in that game (Assassin 2) untill I read how they were distributing it...tsk, tsk :( DRM's to check the disk for legality is bad enough but that's taking security too far IMHO. Additionally, liimited installs and going through all that hassle just to reinstall when necessary. Then later when no servers are up..what happens then? If they don't release a patch to cancel the DRM or whatever so you can continue to play you've lost your investment for no good reason. Also, keeping your character/saves on-line is another pain in the you know what! I do not want to depend on their severs, but back on my computer where they belong. Makes me wonder if they really understand how much damage they are doing by some of these stupid decisions regarding PC gamers and keeping them happy instead of pushing us away from their games??? I can understand some of this if your playing Multiplayer and the need to create an account on-line etc. but not for SP.
As to my stay in hospital, needed an operation on my colon for cancer but all is well and recovering in good order, no further treatment needed. Hooray!!! Thank you for good wishes. :)
Since we're off subject might as well tell you that if you have Half-Life 2 and at least the first add-on, there is an excellent Mod that was made awhile back called "Minerva". The first part was developed for the original game but the later chapters were coded using the next games engine. You can find it listed in Steam. I played the first two chapters and really enjoyed it, I have the first add-on to HL but haven't installed it due to a variety of reasons...but none-the-less I highly recommend it if you have the ability to play it. ;)
OK, I shall sign-off now and thanks for the chat. :)
