"What's Yours Is Mine"
I'm spellbound by such profound words...It's as if a moron swooped down and yoinked the soul of THIEF.
Dia on 17/5/2013 at 13:58
Yeah, I know, Vae. You have great names like 'Thief: The Dark Project', 'Thief: The Metal Age', and 'Thief: Deadly Shadows'. Now we have 'Thief: What's Yours Is Mine'? Just doesn't grab me. I guess spending ten months to create a game demo (that allegedly didn't work properly anyhow) must've been too much of a brain-drain on the T4 devs. Kind of scary actually, to think that it's that kind of mentality (as in unimaginative) that's being tasked with creating another Thief game. *shudders*

A Thief game with no Mechanists OR Hammerites is just not a Thief game.
That brings up an interesting point. Say there a no Hammerites/Mechanists/Pagans/Keepers. And then there's no undead, burricks, guards calling people taffers, or Benny. What do you have? You have a guy named Garrett who doesn't sound like the guy who's always played Garrett, and you have....The City and The Baron.
Not only is that not a Thief game, it's really not really even a reboot. Reboot indicates that you're using an existing universe and providing a new twist - this is more like some movie that uses the introduction "Inspired by..." It's like they want to use the brand to provide them big sales numbers, but they don't want to use the things that made the brand great.

It
is a completely different game: 'reboot'. It means EM can do anything they want to it and still call it Thief. So annoying, imo. Especially the 'What's yours is mine' crap. What?! Did they have one of the devs' 12 year old kids name it?
*smh*I mentioned this in another thread too Dia, but I think that "What's Yours Is Mine" is just a tagline and not part of the actual title of the game.

A few more shekels for the weak mans' folly, is all that is required to diminish the greatness of the future.

It's being presented as a subtitle within the context of the logo...yet, if this moronic phrase turns out to be simply a tagline, then its' insult will be lessened but not eliminated.

Agreed. The City, the Baron, and the Baron's Watch. It already falls flat on premise and just comes across as a tricked-out, expensive imitation of the original games. Another wait & see, I suppose. :(

Yeah, but people are still going to associate that 'tagline' with the title (which so far looks like it'll be just plain 'Thief'); just the way they presented the line that picture it really does look as though it's part of the title as well. And now, thanks to jtr, every time I look at that pic, I see those gulls from 'Finding Nemo', going 'Mine .... mine .... mine.....'. ;)

I wish the new game's tagline was:
THIEF
I LIKE TO STEAL
More subtle. Spellbinding.
Starker on 17/5/2013 at 20:12
I actually thought at first that the new logo tagline was made by fans who were mocking it.
Dia on 17/5/2013 at 20:56
@Q:
*facepalms while giggling uncontrollably*@Starker: Same here. Then I thought maybe EM had created a 'Name this game and win a free copy' contest for third graders.

:laff: (Don't give them any ideas, DF. They may steal that tagline and add it to the existing one.) ;)
