Ha, too funny!
If you truly believe your own thoughts, then you should study hard and become a game developer and make Thief as awesome as you want it to be. :thumb:
Nah. I prefer to mock it and wave around my genitals in a rude manner.

"- Team is trying to find a balance between making combat enjoyable and allowing players to enter combat if they want"
What... Combat is something you should want to avoid, a last resort. It shouldn't be a first resort. You aren't a thief if you just run and kill everyone, it makes you also a murderer...
Whilst I agree that the ethos of Thief was to reduce violence, you could still murder everyone in sight in the previous games on lower difficulty settings, after getting to grips with your arsenal. Whilst most of the players here at TTLG enjoy playing as Ghost or simply blackjacking everyone, the Devs placed a huge variety of weapons and tools at the hands of the players. The decision of the Devs to limit killings to non-Expert difficulty was one of the few areas of the game where they deliberately minimised the freely-deciding morals of the game. In fact you could argue that the purest Thief experience was on "Normal" difficulty since you have less requirements on what to steal and who to kill, the decision is left entirely to the player. One of the things I love most about Thief is the ability to project your own set of moral choices onto Garrett, who is entirely amoral.

Based on what I've seen and heard about it so far, I'm more likely to satisfy my curiosity about NuThief by watching someone Let's Play it on youtube than me even making a bargain bin purchase of the game.
Haven't given up on the game completely, but EM has their work cut out for them to get me to buy it.

So Escapist isn't reputable, nor Game Informer?
Are we only to trust sources that Eidos Montreal have paid to say good things? At this rate, the only source we can trust will be Eidos Montreal themselves. Forgive me for saying this, but I fear their objectivity on the matter may be somewhat skewed.
IF I ever buy the game, it will be bargain bin.

I completely agree. Well said.

Why are we talking about the escapist? Is there some escapist article referenced in the original link that I didn't see? As far as I can tell it's just a bunch of people on the escapist's forum talking about the same sources we've been talking about for quite a while now.
I would have loved to have the multiple difficulty level sliders that was originally going to go into thief 3. One slider for enemy alertness, one slider for loot requirements, one slider for stealth restrictions, one slider for ... is there anything else? Damage taken?
