I keep remembering one day in October 2001. Me and my colleagues were standing outside for a cigarette break. We'd just shortly discussed the likely political consequences of the NY attacks but as that was a troubling outlook we changed subject to job perspectives which weren't looking rosy either. (The dotcom bubble.) So a small silence developed between the 4 smokers before one said: "It's getting real chilly." At which point we all laughed a bit uneasy because he'd probably just meant the weather, but there obviously was a lot more to it.
The world took a turn for the worse in 2001, whole states fell into paranoia, first about the Muslim world then about their own people, useless wars were started, global capitalism went rampaging with the financial crisis of 2008 at its preliminary end. Frankly it must have been a shitty decade that managed to make the 80s look like the 60s. Not everything went so bad for me personally, there were some nice upturns. But all in all I too would like to have my ten years back and go to some African paradise island instead, where the booze is strong, tits are huge and none of that shit matters. Here's to the tenners beating the zeros in a good way.

Oh fett. After reading your opening post, too many words are rattling around in my brain and I can't find the right ones, but I'm willing to bet you know how I feel. I know you're going to be alright. You have to be. And that's all there is to that! I will be forever indebted to you for the kindness and compassion you gave that helped me through the absolute worst time of my life, a nightmare of a time that took an eternity to work through and left me a little broken (or maybe that should read 'insane'?). It took another eternity for me to realize that there's just no going back ..... ever. You can remember with fondness and nostalgia all the good (in some cases, better) times, but in the end it's the looking forward that gives you hope and keeps you strong. Oh - and fingerpainting with the little ones who forget there's paint on their fingers when they pick their noses, or pretending you're an airplane flying down the aisle at the grocery store just so you can hear them laugh that laugh that makes you go all warm and mushy inside. Tocky pretty much nailed it there.
I have decided that the sky's the limit for 2011 and it's going to be a kick-assingly great year. For you too, fett.
Or else.
Srsly.
