His point IS valid. You don't need to know shit about rap music to realise that arguing that "genre is dead/ruined" is equally hackneyed and incorrect. If you actually want to discover the interesting hip hop being produced today, throwing a tantrum isn't a particularly efficient way of doing it. If you actually believe that listening to current hip hop=listening to bad hip hop, that's hilarious/depressing.

I love how nobody is actually willing to show me any examples of what you're talking about. I'm far more open-minded about this shit than you guys realize, though I admittedly don't make that easy to believe. Actually show me something- maybe there's something I missed. Don't just sit there with your thumbs up each others' asses and give me this "well there's no point because you won't listen lololol" copout bullslhit.
Here's what crunk is, since none of you seem to know: lyrics are meaningless because you need more time to shout WHAAAAT YEAAHHH OKAAAAAY. The beat is god. Delivery is unimportant- you can shout it or scream it if you want.
Starting to sound familiar? That's because most "hiphop" these days is this stupid teenage bullshit.
Here's the thing about crunk: crunk was just a bunch of dumb bullshit that got started in Memphis sometime in the mid-90s. It was repetitive, simplistic, and relied mostly on call-and-response. Ultimately it had all the intellectual significance of a pussy fart. It was fairly obscure and was eventually going to disappear like it should have. Then the major labels picked up on it. Once it got popular, it started basically taking over. Now you'd be hard-pressed to find something actually worth listening to. I guess it's not so much that crunk ruined hiphop but hiphop ruined itself. Crunk was just the bottle of Midnight Hobo that hiphop started chugging on an hourly basis.
Lil Jon has a lot to answer for. Real hiphop is still out there, but you gotta look for it. And unfortunately some dumbass white boy 4channer rapping about Mass Effect isn't my cup of piss, thank you.

I can't shift the goalposts. You guys have them all up your asses and you're spinning like tops 'cuz you think you look awesome.
But there you fucking go- these examples are actually good. My entire point in this stupid thread (aside from, you know, nerdcore is Sturgeon's Law personified) is that good stuff like this is not what's driving hiphop these days. It's the crunk-infused garbage that most younger folks and delusional people think constitutes real hiphop.
