I just finished the whole "Defend Bes" mission. I finish them all off, start talking to Bes - and then they open fire, 20 having suddenly spawned around the area. Bes dies. WTF.
And I don't even have a chance to loot any corpses.
That happened to me on my second playthough, except Bes didn't realise he was under attack. He just stood there calmly geting shot. He'd drop on the ground, I'd give him a medkit, and it would be the same thing all over again.
Also, near that Combat Chaser, there should be 2 guys with the IB something gun (the one with greenish plastic).
They are both special. One has an integrated silencer and is much lighter than normal, and the other has almost no recoild, IIRC. I've actually never used the gun though, as the gray one that uses the same ammo always seemed better but these two could be useful.

Combat Chaser? Wha? Are you replying to my post, or someone else's?
Bjossi on 25/4/2007 at 20:44
He is not replying to you in the Combat Chaser paragraph. ;)

Yeah, I probably should have put another quote in there :p

charlestheoaf: you mean the modified IL 86, right? I got it, and have been enjoying using it, even though I have a couple of weapons that can deal more damage. I like the fact that it's lighter, and at least for now it's enough for my needs.
I've also been enjoying going mutant hunting with the Combat Chaser, and killing some enemies from far away with it and some dart ammo. Terribly effective.

As soon as I find a pump shotgun I'm gonna head back to Cordon, take all my shotgun ammo I stashed in the trader's office and hunt some mutants. :D

Yeah, I think that's what I meant. I can't remember most of the names of the guns that just have letters and numbers.
The Combat Chaser is nice. I think I'm going to stick with it. But I spent so much time looking for the spsa that I'm going to make use of it for a bit too, dammit.
Also, I found a stash called something like "stash of the strelock faction." Turned out it was just an AK, some ammo, and grenades, though. I think that's all there was, anways.

That's a very lame stash, yes, considering that it's in the middle of radioactive hotspot and a dog pack is hanging around it.

Yeah, I thought that, especially since I had to do some major backtracking to get to it.
I was wondering, do the weapon stats that show in the inventory reflect things like a weapons recoil? If not, then it could be possible that a gun like the balanced L85 (IL86) is actually much better than it seems from the inventory stats.

I think they do, more or less. Accuracy of a single shot or the first burst shot is the most obvious proof, then handling measures how long it takes to reload and most probably also recoil. I find most sniper rifles unappealing, since the 7.62 ammo is rare, they are heavy to carry, they have strong recoil which disturbs your monocular aiming a lot, and your first shot often doesn't kill the target. Vintar rifle is a valuable exception, it uses fairly common 9.39, has an intergated silencer and quite soft recoil, but the range of fire is also lower in comparison with other sniper rifles, I think.
