So ever since I first installed stalker a long time ago it's always crashed to desktop halfway through the Army Warehouse section. I've patched it, reinstalled, patched again, replaced my hardrive, my memory, everything. I run into the same problem on both my laptop and desktop, with no change.
The latest patch (US .0003) was supposed to fix this, but it hasn't. Is anyone else still experiencing this?

I have never experienced this before. Do you get the crash at the exact same spot everytime?

I had the same problem until I upgraded my ram from 1 gb to 3gbs.

Seriously? This is easily one of the most aggravating and persistent bugs I've ever encountered.
It always happens when I cross a threshhold point or osmethign in the middle of the loaded area (it's not a loading point), on the road going past the Freedom base, same area that I have to pass through every time, stretching all the way north, cutting off the area from even being skippable.

Never experienced this bug.
Static lighting mode, 1.5Gb RAM.
Maybe try to switch to static lighting and/or reduce texture quality? Don't forget to restart the game after that.

Tried loading an earlier save? I didn't experience any problems like that myself, although I did find that one of my saves became corrupted which cost me a little time when I had to revert to an earlier one.

I've sort of had this problem where it crashed once, and every other time the game froze for about 30 seconds before finally restarting. It was pretty annoying when I was running back and forth to transport my gear into the red forest.

I've tried pretty much everything mentioned here, to no avail. I might have to face that it's a bad game disc or something else equally retarded. I did find a way to bypass it, but I'm assuming I'll eventually need to go there to get a suit or something to enter the red forest and the other highly radioactive zones?
EDIT: Oh, and it's always a CTD or a system lock up, needing a hard reboot.

Did you really try to set texture detail to minimum and switch to static lighting? You have to restart the game after that.
Do you have patch 1.0003 installed correctly (is 1.0003 displayed on the menu screen)?
Anyway, you don't have to do anything obligatory in the middle of the map to get to Radar area.

Yes yes, and yes. It makes no difference.

That's good at least, just kind of sucks that I have to miss out on a part of the game for whatever reason this is happening.
