This game is killing me...

I was looking for an RPG that would run nicely on my notebook, so I picked up Arx after reading good reviews of the game. The game runs and looks great, but I'm having some problems with it.

My first problem is saving, when I go to the save menu it's blank, there is no option to save displayed. I can get around this by using quicksaves, but it's still a strange problem.

My other problem is with stealth. By default, left shift enters stealth mode, but when I hold this key down nothing happens. I tried switching stealth mode to different key, but the same thing happens, I also tried both keys while crouching to no avail. I'm stuck at the part where you have to steal the papers from the goblin lord near the start of the game. Every time I wake the lord up and he mauls me. I even tried going upstairs first and got a sword but I still can't beat the goblin.

This seems like a great game, the atmosphere is very unique and I'd like to get into it. Maybe I just have a bad character build?

I can not help with the keyboard problems, but you should be able to beat him with a sword. Hit and back off. Rinse and repeat. The longer you hold the hit key, the more powerful the blow. I get full power and then rush in for a hit and back off. Usually one or two of those and hes toast. Also do not forget to search for the secret there.

Thanks, I'll try that. I may start over with a new character and not put any points into the stealth category, since I can't get it to work. I usually ignore stealth options in RPGs anyway, so I should be able to get through this game without it.

The save problem is annoying though, since you are limited to just 2 quicksave slots, I can't develop a fall back sequence in case I screw up.

quick question...how do you know when your strike is at full power?

Large diamond in the bottom middle part of the screen will lit brighter the longer you hold LMB. It is bright white when the strike is at full power.

I killed that goblin at my 1st try. Still, if u cant, try use the magic missil scroll that u are suposed to find near the river in the level down. As for the stealth key, u need at least 50 of stealth to steal and if it is very low, that means u are not stealthy, so the key will do nothing
