You know when I saw your email complaining about improper usage of the term "gay" on TTLG I was concerned and went to check it out. Thinking that maybe there was a gay bashing flamewar thread happening (it has happened before and we do *not* tolerate that sort of thing) that needed attention. What did I find instead? A personal opinion post that uses a term that (excuse me) has multiple accepted connotations (like it or not, it's true and damn Mr. Webster and the Oxford English dictionary), one of which just happens to relate to your sexual preference.

Listen, it is your right to express your dislike of the thread starter's choice of words and to explain why you feel as you do. But, to make a HUGE case out of this, turning it into militant gay-bashing out of control such that requires notification of the forums admins and a request for official action...

Fucking PLEASE.

For starters, you're gay? Well zippidy-fucking-doo-dah. So what? I'm straight. Who gives a fuck? Not you I hope because I don't give a rat's ass who you bang just so long as it isn't me or my man.

Like you said, where you stick your dick is your thing… so why even bring it up to begin with? Don't use your sexuality as a crutch. Think you're not? Why the hell did you practically introduce yourself as "The Big Gay Avenger" in your first sentence? Are you so pompous and ignorant as to think that a heterosexual person was incapable of making the same argument? That because you are a gay person offended by something that someone posted suddenly it's our obligation to sit up on our haunches and take some kind of special notice?

Christ, you make it sound like there are swatstikas and "I hate gays" smeared on every other fucking page, when in reality you're focusing on such a small subset of the material up there it's fucking mind boggling. But let's take a look at a few things.

For starters, hmmm... were you even a member of TTLG prior to "taking a stand" here in this thread? Not that we can see, so why do you really care what sort of terminology is used by people in this community? Why are you also taking personal offense from a stranger's comment which has not one fucking thing to do with you, or your (or anybody else's) sexuality. His use of the term was clear in its meaning Avenger, YOU are the one who turned it into a homosexuality issue. That's right, YOU.

Where were you, Captain Morals, when threads have blatantly bashed The Jews. The Palestinians. The US. The homeless. The amputees. The Canadians. The nerds. The retarded. George Lucas. John Romero. Bill Clinton. Dead animals in the road… Threads that ran rampant with masturbatory kitten slaughter? We've still to receive one piece of hate mail from the Kitten Anti-Defamation League. Why do you think that is? Hmmm?

Let me put it to you another way Avenger, if the average run of the mill web surfer is so monumentally void of all rational and individual thought where something such as a single opinion post on a game forum entitled "This game is beyond gay" could fucking serve as their moral barometer, then we the inhabitants of planet Earth are a lot more fucked than we fool ourselves into believing.

But I'm going to indulge you and we'll speak in hypotheticals for a second. At the writing of this post, there are 50,799 threads on TTLG forums. Let's say that we take the same amount of people and force them all to live in some little isolated bubble world. We'll call it "Avenger's Dream Bubble" for now.

And let's say that we take them all one at a time into a room and show them each one thread from the forums to read before turning them back loose into our mock society. And let's say that person is forever brainwashed by the views and opinions they saw in that thread we have given them. You follow me so far?

So of those 50,799 people, how many of them would be horribly scarred by the less-than-positive connotation of the term "gay" and therefore would join the writhing masses of beastly homophobic gay bashers that you fear? Hmmm... say 5? 10? That's less than a quarter of one percent. Christ you'd have more people convinced that Starrfall is really an Elf than you'd have "misusing" the term that happens to also be indicative of your sexual preference. There would be something like 1 person predisposed to associating "gay" with "bad" for every 1270 people in our little society. You know what they'd call that if the same thing if it held true here in the real world?

A goddamned fucking miracle!

P.S. Although I am a TTLG admin (which is why I received your email complaint) my words here are just my own personal feelings at the moment and my somewhat knee-jerk reaction to what I see as you blowing this thing WAY out of proportion and making a scene. Just me expressing my opinion... take it for what it's worth.

I know English isn't your first language. That's why I pointed out the parts the parts of your rant that were German specific. So you'd know what to avoid the next time you try our language.

As for my German, it's passable. But conversationally, it sucks. Then again, I don't try to incite moral discussions on German message boards.

And the masturbatory kitten slaughter wasn't offensive, it was good ol' family fun! ;)

In meine Schule, Ich habe eine Jahre von Deutsch genommen... aber ich weiss nicht so viel...

anyways, I understand why you put a bunch of Y's where J's should be... because they make the same sound in german. However... heh... I never did figure why you called it Yew York or whatever... I guess there are a lot of Jews there.

Well avenger, I wouldn't worry about the whole conservative gaming things. Since all the new games have an option for Mod's, you can make a mod with gay relationships.

and I think Crassius Curio is gay... not sure though. Haven't got that far though.

Avenger, why do you keep displaying "gays" as a seperate group? It is NOT gays against the rest of the world. To most people (in civilized countries at least, like your country Germany, and mine, Holland) gays are just people like other people.
"But I don't believe in peace." Someone uses a word wrong and you want to start a war.
You are trying to put gay people in a seperate corner and have them fight against the rest. Well, fortunately you are just a lone lunatic. Maybe you can find a few people who think alike and fight it out with a few gay haters. Might even be a nice show to the other 99.99% of the world, straight and gay.
