this and that... - by Xenith

I've been playing and enjoying Oblivion a lot and heard that Morrowind is a just as good experience.... well.... is it? do the quests offer that great rewarding feeling of acomplishing something? (I heard of the annoyance of the "get this guy from this town to that town and don't lose him" quests)
also, is the fighting system hard to get a grip on it? (I remember one of my friends saud he kept attacking the damn monsters and not do any damage allthough he was 2 inches away from them)
so, should I get Morrowind (after playing Oblivion) or would I just be disapointed?

I see it this way man, Oblivion was disliked by Morrowind fans because of the lack of story DEPTH, but if your really attached to the combat and convenience of navigation, you might end up wanting to just kill yourself dealing with that in Morrowind. However, I liked Morrowind, but simply liked oblivion MORE. So, if your cool with the hidden dice rolls, yea, you'll like the added depth. If not, it'll just be a painful process where your pushing your patience for the next quest that comes up.
To sum it up, I'm going to have to say, "Maybe, but probably not."

I think the frustration of the combat comes from the initial start of the game. Your skill is so low that you can hardly hit any thing most of time. Also every creature you come close to will attack you. The initial release also did not feature a health bar for the opponent.
Once you level up a few time the comat becomes more bearable and game starts to open up more. I would recommend searching for a passive creature mod, there are quite a few. These mods changes the behaviour of the creatures so not all of them attack on sight. This increases your survival rate while exploring Morrowind in the early part of the game.
