Holmes didn't wear one, dude.
Okay, perhaps not, but he was no dandy.
The hat in the trailer simply screams 'dandy'.

Well I, for one, love the trailer. :)
Especialy the part where Holmes says "Well, there isn't any time to waste then.", puts his pipe in the mouth and jumps out the window into the Thames. It looks like they're parodying Hollywood's dramatizing of classic literature.
BTW, what did you all think of RocknRolla? I thought it was too long, the ending and the actionscene in the middle were the only real high points. Still, a defenite step up from Revolver, but still not quite on level with Snatch/LockStock.

The botched robbery in the middle was the only worthwhile thing about RocknRolla. A definite step up from Revolver, but then Revolver was atrocious. Maybe Ritchie will manage to rise to mediocrity with this one, but I'm not holding my breath.

Being a long-time fan of the Basil Rathbone originals, I own like a dozen of them on DVD, this is a refreshing change of pace. It has potential, and I am going to keep my eye on it.

The best Holmes portrayal is Jeremy Brett in The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes series. Faithful and entertaining, and no deerstalkers.
I predict a good performance by Robert Downey Jr. in an otherwise fairly average film.

Brett is fantastic, I try to catch it every time it's on ITV3.

That does look rather awful.

Hasn't anyone killed Guy Ritchie, yet?
...they got rid of fucking van Gogh for less

Looks like someone dusted off and retooled the script for Wild Wild West II.
*sniffs, adds a Brett Holmes DVD to his Netflix queue*
