Either way Jason, a GI staff member saying it has hybrid 3rd person doesn't really mean anything if EM themselves aren't saying it.

Yeah I saw that VH, but outside sources have the following quotes and source the article without them being in the article (unless the scans are incomplete, which is possible):
Quote:
“Now it's really a first-person game,” producer Stephane Roy tells Game Informer. “The team did some prototypes with a third-person perspective.”
Steve Gallagher, who serves as narrative designer on Thief, explains why this was scrapped. “What was interesting is that when you're in [first-person], you're very intimate and focused and closed-in and you need to look behind you. When you're in [third-person], you automatically felt like ‘If I can see me, other people can see me.' At the end of the day, it's much more important that the player's comfort is looked after more than some kind of narrative brain fart.”
Oddly I find myself trusting outside sources mis-citing GI more than I do GI itself.

That's from one of the videos. And while it points to first person being the primary perspective, it doesn't rule out third person bits.

I reckon there will be third person.
When you take down a guard during one of the Focus fights I'm pretty sure you'll get to see the finishing moves. I wouldn't mind that. I would mind third person switching every time you grapple or mantle or hide or lean.

yeah, here is it:

listen to what they say at 2:40
the chief said ''when i came they changed back to first person view.. that was 1 year ago''
that's interesting, that changes a lot of things for me.. i begin to have strange hopes now... :)
Now i remind the first (stolen) screenshot 1 year and half ago where we saw a strange figure that looks like garrett with the bow from the behind shoulder point of view..
In the video they say it was a 'prototype' to test the 3rd person view then they scrapped it.
Very good choice.. at least now i know they have brain ! :)

Whatever the argument is, the thread title is completely misleading because nothing has been confirmed (at least by someone who can legitimately confirm something, i.e. an EM employee).

Word.

More histrionics, more like.

Look, we've got third person screenshots, we've got a journo with exclusive access telling us it's a hybrid. We also have potential third person gameplay footage.
At this point, I suspect if Stephane D'Astous himself made an official statement that they have third person bits in the game, some people here would say "oh, he might have been joking!"
