I'm in the UK.
I was thinking of getting something from the Sony store.

All pretty expensive but should see me through the next few years and when I get a bigger TV (eventually, no plans atm as I just got the 40"). I want something that will work seamlessly with my set-up.

Are you aware of the "Sony effect", its where items cost 25% more than they would otherwise be. Whats your budget..?

This is untrue. The Bravia 40W5500 and PS3Slim 120Gb I have are both good value for money, especially the TV which is fab.
My budget? Well, ideally I'd like to spend under £200, but I can go to £500 if there is something really, really desireable.

Right, well what ever you look for I suject you do lots of research, I would also suggest you get a separate speakers/amp. As you have PS3 you dont need a separate BluRay player. I`ll have a quick look and see what there is out there.

Yeah, a Sony set-up would be nice, especially since most of the stuff does the old Bravia Syncing and so will/should auto on/off with the other hardware and auto select source output and so on.

Well RicherSounds have a dedicated section to home cinema speaker kits - (
http://www.richersounds.com/products/home-cinema/speakers/speaker-packages)
You have 2 options for your budget, both are 5.1 systems and you need some stand unless you mount them on the wall -
The Tannoy @ £200
Harmon Karon @ £300
I found some equivalent sony kits, but these started at £500.....(bleh)

I'd prefer floor standing speakers. Looking at the Sony HT-SF1300 (HTSF1300) Home Cinema System atm.

I did a quick google for it and the cheapest was £300 and the most was £560, the upper of which I'm sure are taking the piss. Looking at the specs these speakers look like they do the job, but I would seriously suggest listening to them before parting with your cash - or just buy them online and you have 7 days to test them...

Which are they though? I'm searching but not finding.

Quick update: in the end I went for individual components. I've got a Sony STR-DH800 receiver, two front speakers and a subwoofer by Magnat (apparently they're a brand that audio snobs tend to look down on, but my impression from reviews was that they may have used to produce sub-quality speakers but that they're pretty good value for money by now - their logo sucks, though :p), and I'm using the two speakers from my old Philips stereo system as surround speakers (I might swap them for smaller Magnats at a later stage). At this point I'm still waiting for the center speaker, but the system's already pretty cool compared to what I had before. I wasn't prepared for how much the subwoofer makes the floor vibrate! :cheeky: Here's hoping the people living in the flat underneath ours won't have cause to complain...
