Having said that, there were/are three working models of new AI that I knew about for the CCP, including colourless's enforcer...
What are the other 2?
Zygoptera on 24/4/2007 at 02:50
So far as I am aware the extra models which were either working or near to working were a drone, the servbot and maintbot. I made some custom motions for the servbot too, nothing special but they did work.

Frankly, you can't do
anything without angering some of the fans. And I'm not merely talking about things like midwife boobies (which I personally could not care less about but thought the OTMFG!!111!!! teh spirit of teh gaem is teh ruined by teh b00bies!!!111!!111 reaction from some was a bit... over the top), when rebirth came out people complained fervently about
utter trivialities. We aren't as bad as Fallout fans, true, but we ain't called fans for nothing.
Rebirth wasn't *all* trivialities though really. The midwife, sure, but I
hated the approach he took with the assassin.
Anyway, my point was simply that he is going to have to take liberties, and that there's no real point to doing the project to have it die in a few months. like they all seem to.

What was wrong with the assassins?
The models seemed smaller in Rebirth than the originals, but otherwise I saw nothing wrong with them.

Sure, I'll have to take some liberties; it's not going to be like adding a second ass to a mutant though.

You're kidding, right? Cyberblutch's upgraded cyborg assassin model, while technically excellent, had the minor flaw of looking absolutely nothing like the model it was supposed to replace.
That's the eternal problem with creative people on upgrade projects-- they tend to get all twitchy if they can't impose their own vision on what they're working on.

...and the problem with uncreative people on upgrade projects is that they produce crap work. That's the problem with remakes in a nutshell.
ZylonBane on 24/4/2007 at 15:35
So you have to get people who are creative but respect the source material, or are uncreative but technically proficient. Or somewhere in between. They're tough to find but they are out there.
Aircraftkiller on 24/4/2007 at 15:36
I love how there's so few people on the middle here. Either it sucks or it doesn't suck. Someone's a bad artist or they're not.
I take pride in keeping accuracy to the original source material. For example, CC95 upgrades:

For example, if I don't see textures utilized; I look at the surface and what it's probably made of. I also ask your input. I'm not going to take a cyborg assassin and turn it into a walking robot before I see what everyone thinks, my foremost goal would be accuracy to System Shock. Any other details I'd add would have to fit in with the general design, I'm not going to take the medical level and turn it into a McDonalds in space
