It's actually just easier to not get caught. Steal something while no one is there. I've stolen things while a person's back was turned and I didn't get a bounty. I've done all thieves guild missions, and found out who the gray fox really was, but only with cheats. I just couldn't get pass that part with vampires with glass armor and weapons. Anything I should know about?

Out of curiosity, what happens if you fail to steal the diary, and you fail to get it from Methredhel?
To answer your question, I think the next night, or the night after that you should go back to Armand and he'll have another quest for you to get in the guild which is easier, just in case no one was fast enough to outrun methredhel.

Yeah, the one I mentioned above.
As for the vampires bit, it's difficult to know which part you mean as of course enemies are levelled. Do you mean (spoiler tag as sanity isn't at this bit yet, most likely) 'The Boots of Springheel Jak'?

Yea, that's the one I'm talking about. At that point, should I be using some other type of armor, because I did kinda fine straight forward up until then.

You might try using poison when you fight the vampires. They take damage from it just like everybody else. Unless they're an Argonian vampire.

My equipment isn't really the best though, I still have leather armor.

Then I'd suggest upgrading your armour, even if only for this fight.
Also, don't vampires get a small resistance to normal weapons? You could try leaning towards magic and/or using a magical weapon if you haven't already done so.

And don't forget that vampires take extra damage from fire.

When I triggered that quest, I led him outside(by accident, I was wetting myself) and a guard pwned him. I just took the boots afterwards.

Also, although it sure doesn't feel this way sometimes, bear in mind that sometimes you simply may not be ready for every mission out there. The fact that you're apparently wearing straight-up leather armor makes me think you really shouldn't be getting involved with high-level Thieves Guild missions. At your current level, would you try taking on glass-armored vampires in random, non-quest dungeons?
