Quick question that will sound really dumb to most of you:
If you steal several things without your crime being reported, and then steal something else somewhere else and have it reported, do they take EVERYTHING you've stolen??
I think this just happened to me and if so, I'm screwed... I was under the impression that you were safe on things you took without being reported.
Thanks.

I think they only take the items they know you stole, so you should be able to keep your previously attained gear.
Just save before you steal just in case.

You're screwed, they take everything.

Yeah, they take any and all stuff you have ever stolen. You can get around this by dropping all your stolen gear just before the guards catch you. Pay the fine and pick your stuff up again. Works a treat.
If you can't reload to a point before you got everything confiscated, your stuff hasn't disappeared from the game. It's apparently been moved to the 'Evidence' chests you find around the place. I'm not sure if every town has an evidence chest, or if your stuff gets moved only to the chest in the town in which it was confiscated or what. However, you'll want to find and make a note of those chests to try and get your stuff back.

The evidence chests are located in the prison areas of the various imperial forts:
Pelgiad
Ebonheart
Fort Buckmoth
Fort Moonmoth
Not sure if Fort darius(gnisis) and the wolverine hall(sadrith mora) have prison areas though.
