Okay, you lost me when you said logic.

The interview seemed kind of rehearsed. Or that guy is just really lousy at asking questions. "How would you describe the atmosphere in the city when Garrett returns?" Really? That's the question you came up with? My suspicion is further reinforced by the fact that we didn't actually learn anything that's really new. Most of the stuff has come up before.
If I had to speculate, I'd wager that the story is their big ace up their sleeve. That's probably why they're keeping tight wraps on it before the real marketing begins. They'll likely bank on it to get good reviews right out of the gate. Also, I bet the game will be very character-centric as far as the main storyline is concerned. This most likely entails drama and cutscenes more closer to Thief 3 than to the previous games.
Disclaimer: the above is pure speculation on my part, for those who have trouble discerning that. I'm not saying that is what definitely will happen. It's just a guess, a wild stab, a thought experiment, it's all hypothetical. It lives in the realm theoretical and has no claim to truth or truthiness of any sort or description.

Both of us. But remind the class why you're right and everyone else is wrong, why you're special and what that has to do with logic.

I think those of us who express our dislike for EM's direction on Thief serves as an unpleasant reminder for those who are hoping against all hope that this game will give some amount of pleasure, some continuance of Thief legacy. That is why we are on these boards in the first place! This is despite the fact that EM is going in an entirely different direction, subscribing to design that changes things for the sake of changing them while simultaneously eschewing the foundations of Thief to blaze their own path. Fans are upset and we express it but are met with this:

Maybe all of you accusing us of "whining" should read the Eidos boards, writeups/reviews of the demo from some of the major web sites, and general opinions from around the web. We're not the only ones criticizing what we see. You guys are the ones in the minority.
This is absolutely true. Go to Thief forums, the Thief subreddit, the Thief Facebook page, as well as a slough of other articles online and you will see a lot of disappointment in the direction of nuThief. Minorities indeed.

Well you know that when people are annoyed about something they are more likely to complain about it than those people who are happy with things are likely to praise them, right?
Having said that - I fully understand why people have misgivings and I'm nowhere near as optimistic as I once was, and that is because the very latest information paints a poor picture.
It's like this:
A man says he's bringing a cake to the party.
Some people freak out and say it will be awful because he is a man and therefore can't bake. Rational people say "okay, sounds good".
He then says he baked it in an electric and not a gas oven.
The naysayers use this as further fuel to freak out and declare it a failure. Rational people say "ok, could still be fine".
The man then says he's using a Russian recipe.
The naysayers say "Russians know nothing about cakes! Why not a French recipe?". Rational people say "never had a Russian cake, but lets see"
The man finally says the ingredients include mince meat and soap.
The rational people say "uh, what? this sounds terrible" and the naysayers say "see, see, you're having a knee-jerk reaction just like us".
The fact that I have to explain this just shows once and for all what total intellectual slugs you all are. Imbeciles.

So, umm, you've set up your own hypothetical-cake based rationality test, and surprisingly you're the only person who passes it...
Renzatic on 28/6/2013 at 20:41
Any test based on cake usually ends up being pretty solid.
demagogue on 28/6/2013 at 21:13
Like the cake itself, I assume.
