What is the Joker's primary motivation?
What is Catwoman's primary motivation?

I'm sorry, but there's grasping at straws and then there's what you are doing, SubEff. You have reached the end of the hole, please put the shovel down now.

He will lay down and die in that grave before he stops giving you the blame for his perception. :erg:

I'd rather continue this discussion with dethtoll so...

Joker's motivation: he doesn't actually have one. He lives by his whims.
Catwoman's motivation: stealing, for the challenge as much as for rent.
Garrett's motivation: stealing, for the challenge as much as for rent.
This is not up for debate. These are the established characterizations of all three. If you want to write Joker/Garrett slash fic so bad, just do it, stop trying to bounce your justifications off me.

Traditional canon Garrett has basically no similarities with Joker. Whats worrying me is that the EM reboot is probably going to have a
lot of similarities. Problematic. "whats yours is mine" WTF kind of Garrett quote is that?! Even Stephen Russell could not pull off that line and make it sound like Garrett.
The Garrett I know discriminates between his targets, has a dry, subtle sense of humor about his occupation, and moves with purpose in everything he does.
The picture EM is painting for the reboot is much more like a guy that gives 0 f*s about anything, wears crazy makeup, and has no ideals or morality whatsoever... and is not voiced by SR. That doesn't have much to do with Joker comparisons, but I thought I'd throw it in for good measure.

... and is not voiced by SR.
In all fairness, there's not a shred of evidence to support that thus far.

The evidence is that the only Garrett quote we've received thus far has been text. If they coulda, they woulda.
edit: I'm even willing to say that EM phoned him up and said "please voice our new Garrett", but when he took one look at the concept art, phoned back and said "i'm not voicing a little emo faggot like that", and promptly hung up.

Actually, in one of the earlier videos they were showing off the mocap studio and said something about the voice actors doing the mocap. Unless SR has age regressed 20 years, that wasn't him.

We know for sure that when they recorded the performance, they recorded the facial movements on "Garrett" to go along with the words, and recorded the sound in general. What we don't yet know is if he'll be dubbed by the same guy later, or another actor, or how they will tweak or revise the data.
