Thiefs 1 2 and 3 Technical questions

Hi guys, I came here once for questions about enhancement pack for Thief1, G n 2.
But now I got a new computer and I have some problems:

On ThiefG n Thief2, my Cutscenes dont works, but I did what this site sais
(The FAQ topic) But its didn't work.

After: I'm french, and my english is not good (like you seeing) and Im trying to Editing my Default.ini with a wordpad and I do that:

Please tell me what methods you tried. Did you try all of them, or just one? Did you try the regsvr32.exe /s LGVID.AX trick? Do you have indeo files installed? etc. I must see what you have tried. Second, what happens when you play thief? Do you get a black screen? Or does it just skip the movie cutscenes?

You might try (http://timeslip.chorrol.com/ddfix.html) ddfix, this could fix your problem as well as make thief look like it should....

As far as the next part, unfortunately I've never heard of a Default.ini, as my copy of thief gold and thief 2 do not have a "Default.ini" :confused: I don't think you can simply just edit an ini file and have thief play in french. I wish we could switch between languages, but I am almost certain (someone correct me if I am wrong here) there is no way to do this, unless the localization copies for other countries allows this. Is your copy of thief gold and thief 2 a localization, or the U.S. versions?

EDIT: Oops! You were referring to thief 3 regarding default.ini, correct? Sorry. I did a quick google search with the terms "thief" and "default.ini" and found this:(http://www.tweakguides.com/TDS_6.html) Unfortunately I cannot be of assistance regarding this. I hope someone else can assist you here. :)

I tried regsvr32.exe /s LGVID.AX trick. ;)
And my cutscene just skip and I go to next mission. Its not fun. :(

After when I try to install indeo codec, it say that I have better and installer close after.

For Thief3 in french subtitle, not working. I know all what the link you show. I know I must change the '';'' but its dont working.

Do not forget I have Windows Vista and no XP or lower. ;)

Hmm, you tried the iv5play.exe right?

Okay, so your game skips the movies and you can still play right?

For the movies to work, you must make sure you have the Indeo Codecs. I know it says it is for windows xp, and you have Vista, but you should try this anyway. See if it works: (http://www.thief-thecircle.com/download.asp?fid=876)

Yes, I can play without movies, but its not fun to don't have them. Adnd I want to know how to fix the problem...

Don't you mean it is not fun to not have the cutscenes?

Also, this may be obvious, but you know you can play the movies outside of thief, right?

Anyway, as none of the fixes are working, I suggest you try ddfix, which I gave you a link to in one of my posts here.

I dowload DDfix. I copy all files that the readme file suggest in Thief2 directory and when I clik on the .EXE file, windows said taht the program dont work correctly. Strange... :erg:

I alway have that kind of technical problem... I'm starting to be tired. lol

And for Thief3 french subtitle, I don't fix the problem yet.

Which exe file? you mean ddfixGUI.exe ? What's the error message?

I'm sorry, as I said, I don't' know how to help you further regarding thief 3. You'll have to wait and see if biker or someone else can help. Remember, I'm only a volunteer, I'm not being paid to help taffers.:)

Yes I know and I understand taht. ;)

So the error message said that an error happenned and that windows will try to fix the problem (a moment for the loading) and an other message said that windows found nothinf to fix and he close the program.

Ah, bummer. That's the generic "there was a problem and this program needs to be closed" message. I'm guessing you're referring to ddfixgui.exe. Do you know how to set compatibility mode in vista? IF so, try setting compatibility to windows xp sp2 or older and see if ddfix works that time. If not, then you'll need to try the manual version of ddfix.
