EDIT: Jz, bad style solving the problem before anyone else gets a chance - The FAQ for Thief Series states that : "How do I repair a broken Thief installation?
Browse the Thief CD and doubleclick directly on the setup.exe file. Broken installation typically happens when the setup program crashes halfway, or when there was an attempt to uninstall the game by deleting the Thief folder manually. In both cases, some registry keys were left behind, so the interface (the one that pops up automatically when you insert the CD) will assume the game is installed and will not let you install it again. Running the setup program directly bypasses the interface and lets you install." - So, I guess problem solved, Please Delete this Thread
I've been installing (or at least trying), all the things like high res, ddfix, etc. But, I can't keep track any longer of which patches and stuff I've applied and which I have not, so I though about uninstalling the game. Guess what? It can't. Says "The log 'destination\thiefG\thiefalphaIIu.log is not valid or.. corrupt, uinstall will not continue.
So, I delete it manually and delete the add/remove registry entry too. Now I try to install thief again, but the panel.exe shows that the game is already installed (Play, Uinstall etc.). What do I do? I guess there's some registry key causing this, but I wouldn't know which one and where. Can I just run the setup.exe on the cd and then install it that way, or do I need to do something?
Thanks for taking time!, Cats
