In the meanwhile, I have just broken with 8 years of Nvidia tradition and ordered an ATI x1950 Pro. At least this should solve all known rendering problems with Thief while Nvidia farts around.
I'm almost there. My problem is that this is how I got to Nvidia. I was a sworn ATI fan from rage128 to Radeon 9700 Pro. Then they released drivers that I HAD to have to play new games and also broke older games. When I contacted their support they said (and I quote verbatim) "Play newer games". That day I bought my first Nvidia and have really loved them ever since. I don't represent a huge profit to either company but I can easily say that I am indirectly responsible for a couple dozen or so card purchases every year. It's getting frustrating to change recommendations all the time :erg:
I also received this from Nvidia today (I got caught up in the moment and I contacted them again yesterday):

Thank you for contacting NVIDIA Customer Care.
I understand from your email, that you have a GeForce 8800 GTX graphics card and you are having issues with older games. You would like to know when the new drivers support older games.
Your case is being escalated to our Level 2 Tech Support group. The Level 2 agent will provide you with a suitable answer. Please be patient and a Level 2 tech will contact you at earliest.
They didn't quote me exactly but its currently an acceptable summary. I actually asked them to consider that older games players make up a considerable amount of their user base and to please focus some attention on keeping them going.

That's the same answer they give for more than six months now - if you are one of the "lucky" ones to get one at all.

I also got the same message about 3 weeks ago. Maybe if enough people bugs them, critical mass will be reached and they will do something ;)

I loaded Love Story 1V I have green patches over it. Screen shot.
The other missions are okay.
Is there a way I can get fog? I had the ATI guru tools I am dubious about it as I used it a long time ago with radeon. I can not get it with Nvida for this mission
That Fm is very green anyway, and there is no fix for the fog when using the DDfix version

That is a common mission bug that, evidently, was not caught in testing. I think it has nothing to do with DDFIX. I imagine that if you jump into the water you will still be able hear the splash and swim in it.
I can speculate that the mission could be green because the developer has a recent Nvidia card and could not see it rendered properly.
