I submitted a question to nvidia and wrote on vista feedback page

When I play older games on Dark Engine (Thief, Thief 2) the rendering is of very poor quality (colors banding) and the sky is not rendered properly. I searched nVidia forums and found a topic about this issue:

I hope this will be fixed, there are many nVidia customers who are looking forward to it.
Yours sincerely,

It's not perfect but I wrote it in 30 seconds and I am not native speaker of English :)
In your face, nVidia! ;)
EDIT: wow, I got a very fast response. They want to discourage me by asking gazillion questions ;)

Hello,
Thank you for contacting NVIDIA Customer Care.
I understand from your email, that you have a GeForce 7300 GT graphics card and you are having issues with the older games like Thief 2.
I need additional information in order to suggest you some troubleshooting steps:
(1) When did you start experiencing this problem with your NVIDIA based cards? Was it working before?
(2) Did you add or remove any software or hardware prior to this problem?
(3) Did you try a different graphics card driver?
(4) Please let us know the name of the game? Are you having issues with other games and applications?
(5) What is the motherboard model number?
(6) Please perform the following steps:
a) Click on the Start button.
b) Select Run.
c) In the Open field, type in "msinfo32" and then press the OK button.
d) This will bring up the Microsoft System Information Utility. Click on File and then save to save this information to your hard drive. You may give it any name you choose.
e) Once the file has been saved on your hard drive, attach it to this support request so that we could review your system configuration.
Looking forward for your response.
Regards,
NVIDIA Customer Care.

Very good, Simplex.:) You got a response from them! This is much better than many have done, myself included. If you feel like being a hero, fill out that stupid form and see where it leads. My hunch is that they are only interested in finding bugs relative to Vista, not to correct rendering of an old game that has had this problem all along, way before Vista. But you never know. All it takes is one person to take us seriously. If your complaint works, then more power to you. If they should read our thread on the Nvidia forums, that would be great. But don't hold your breath waiting. :)
Perhaps someone with an 8000 card should complain, too.
PS: you might mention that the 8000 series cards are much worse than the 7300, according to the thread. Nvidia probably have more interest in those.

And what's the Thief 1/2/SS2 status on the newest ATI cards and drivers? Do the games run great with perfect colors and with no texture issues in T1, or there are some problems too?

What drivers for 7900 did you use? I have 7300GT but no fog on 169.04 drivers.

I currently have v165.75 WHQL installed, my OS is XP x64. Although I definitely got SS2 working under v169.09 beta (which I had installed to play the Crysis demo). I may've had T2 running properly on it as well, I don't fully remember.
It may render the fog properly in T2, but you still get the shitty looking skies and shadow dithering. I usually run it with DDfix installed and naturally get no fog.

I wonder how is it possible that not only are you able to run Thief, but you also have correctly displayed fog in Windows XP, 7900GS card and 169.x drivers? This looks like some kind of miracle :)
Has anyone else ever managed to get fog on new nvidia cards & drivers?
