I started a petition (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1644993#post1644993) here, referencing this page for documentation. It's not my intent to dilute posts in many threads, but I thought it would be good to have a dedicated petition thread.
I hope the wording is agreeable. If it's not, please PM me, thanks.

Thanks, BrendaEM. I have signed and added my two cents. Let's hope this attracts some attention. After it builds up a bit, I will go over to Nvidia and draw their attention to it.

Bikerdude, did you try Thief-1 with 163.44 drivers? Is this functioning?© With or without "anti-blackscreen fixed .exe"?
Thief 1 does not suffer from the same dithering problem as Thief 2 on the 8800, but when my main pc is back up I will test it.

I wonder if the new cards/drivers are totally misunderstanding what the brightness/gamma should look like. I've notice that Thief 2 does not honor adjustments made in Nvidia's gamma adjustments.
And to that end I am going to play with DXTweaker, this util will create an Ident override which can be set to fool the game into thinking its running on a Geforce 5 or 6 - which I hope will fix the gamma/dithering/colours issue.

That sounds Interesting.. It is a shame we have to do this though/
I wrote this in another post too @thanks Biker for all the help. :thumb:
The mother board Two PCI-E Slots which are filled with Dual Graphics cards.
Which leave only Two PCI slots available for a second card.
I have ordered a FX 5500 from ebay. Nvida again!, hoping that will enable me to play.
PCI only cards are hard to find. I did not actually think I would have to do this.
I could only find three.
I can understand new games not playing on very old cards.
New cards though should be backwards compatible.
There should be something.

I went to the Nvida forum as well. I have had to buy another of their older cards.
I just realised who you are. :o

I am still waiting for some kind soul to make side by side screen shots of the 8xxx and a 7xxx cards with dark textures.
Smithpd, Look at my post at this thread:
(
http://ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1640221#post1640221)
Both screenies were made on my 7600GT, but with AA=8x (first one) it looks
exactly as on 8xxx series card. Compare to Biker's first post in this thread if you want. So, I can "emulate" 8xxx view by setting AA to 8x or using DromEd's
toggle_dithering command. Is it what you're looking for?

Thanks, DJ Riff. Your screen shots are interesting, but they are not quite so definitive (
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=35500&view=findpost&p=251851) as these, posted on the Nvidia forum. Now those shots really portray the 8000 series problem. The first shot in AlexS's post, taken with a 7600GS, is exactly what I see with the 7950 GT (although my screen shot is of higher quality). So now I can clearly see that the 8000 is much worse.
My reply to AlexS's post (
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=35500&view=findpost&p=252019) is here. In that reply, I point out that the Running Interference screen shots do not exhibit the bad dark texture problem I have been repeatedly complaining about. I provide some other screen shots of the bad bedspread in that post that show the dark texture problem with the 6000 and 7000 series cards. It seems apparent now that the 8000 cards are bad on all textures, but the 6000 and 7000 series cards are bad only on certain susceptible textures. The 6000 and 7000 series cards also have the bad sky problem. So, the 6000 and 7000 series cards are clearly better than the 8000 series cards, but they do have problems that need to be fixed, if Nvidia is willing.

look, i've opened a support request on the topic anyway, i need screenshots, game versions, driver versions settings, directx logs and if possible ingame video of the issue.
Post all information to this thread, i've indicated this thread directly to the support team.
Let's post another round of screenies over at the nvidia forums for the nice people at nvidia.:) Also OS version, directx and the rest of the stuff squall_leonhart said. Anyone want to make a movie depicting this issue?
