Is there any know solution?
It is a Duel 256MB nVida 8600GTS
Not at the moment, possibly there will never be, and I imagine as soon as the majority of taffer's(eg us) have an nVidia 8x00 or Ati HD2x00 card, thief 1/2 wont be played anymore.
It will be a shame when that happens, but by then I imagine the Darkmod will be in full force...

I have not had a direct reply from nVidia or brianS (a moderator on the nvidia forum).

I just replied to biker's 8800 thread in the Nvidia forum. I pointed out that the Nvidia problems are much more extensive than bad rendering on the 8800. (

all Thief players with Nvidia cards need to respond to this thread as well, if high numbers are needed to get a response. Should we start a petition thread, "Nvidia owners unite! Contact Nvidia." or something like that? The request should be in Thief Gen, I guess, because not all players post here.

True maybe Thief players should respound .
Has anyone actually played T2 with vista and Nvidia 800 series?.
is there no driver for that graphics card that will play Thief.
I get confused with these things.
Has anyone changed thier card. Why should we though!!.
I have the same colours as bikers. It only plays anyway for a few minutes.
I have not even tried TDS.
It was made for Nvidia was it not. I used Radeon before.
Seems there is no solution/

Great going, smithpd! A very good resume of what the Thief community has been going through these past years. Everybody, if you've got an Nvidia 8xxx GPU and are experiencing the bad dithering issue, please show Nvidia your discontent by posting a comment on the Nvidia forums (
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=35500&view=findpost&p=248720) here.
If the AvP community did it, so can we. If Nvidia released fixed drivers for a game 1 year older than Thief 2, it certainly means that the voice of the community matters more than the age of the game, and if enough people complain on their forums we might have a chance to get this fixed.

Some thiefy person posted a link on Bluesnews this morning : ) Perhaps it will get this a little attention.
Were not only just discussing the presentation the work of the people from Looking Glass here--there are hundred hundreds of fan-made levels that people have put countless hours of work into.

Yes, T2X is quite easily the best fan-made mission pack ever :)

I read the post. I also have a GeForce6600GT. It doesn't have the surface bug, but the sky does look bad, and with no stars.
How far down the tech-tree are users expected to demote their video cards down to?
[Perhaps if we use TNT emulation, no wait, Riva emulation, that's it, and all the polygon cracking goodness : ) Wait, we could use a 3DFX card with a pass-through cable. I think a Voodoo2 would be faster, perhaps a Verge (de)accelerator, or a ATI Rage+ with mythical OpenGL support. I wonder if that's finished yet, but the marketing people promised us...]
