No, you didn't understand. I don't have problem with video card, it runs on full speed. I talk about CPU.
I was talking about the CPU...!!!

Ok the following is
exactly where to change that setting:-
"start button> Control panel> display> screen saver tab> power button> Power schemes>" (set this to always on - but dont gorget to change the monitor off and hard drive spin down times for battery mode)
Do as i have said above and that will fix the cpu slowdown etc.

The problem is that you are talking about Windows XP and i'm running windows vista :( And there is no such option.

Ok, you never mentioned before now that you had vista...:nono: The same control exist, they will just be in a different location.
Go into control panel, look for an icon that looks like a battery/power-lead and it will say some something like 'power saver' or similar. There will be a similar option to 'always on'.
On another note as a computer engineer with 12yrs exp I personally recommend that you downgrade to Xp pro, there are still far too many incompatibilities/instabilities/issues. But that's just my professional opinion.
If you still cant find it, PM, as this is getting off topic.

It seems the same problem occurs with System Shock 2 and the 8800s.
Well I suppose that was expected. :/
I played with all the advanced configuration settings for the drivers and no joy.

Morning taffers..
As per the start of this thread, I have been searching for months now for a geforce 5900 pci-e card, and yesterday i won one of ebay :-)
I shall be testing this alongside my 8800GTX, but as an old FX5200 worked in there then there is no reason why the 5900 shouldnt either.

Well, instead of buying a pci video card, maybe we should all go over to the nvidia forums and start discussing this on a complaint thread there.:nono:
There was a problem with Aliens versus Predator 1 which was recently solved (in the 163.44 beta drivers) because it caused a community uproar. Why did nvidia listen to them? Because lots of "AvP doesn't work with xxxx drivers" threads started appearing, one of them being 17 pages long ((
http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?showtopic=9382&st=0)). It's obvious nvidia only responds to the masses. And the few Thief related complaints there really didn't move them much.
Maybe if the Thief and System Shock community were to pull several large threads on this matter on the nvidia forums and send their complaints to nvidia support, they will fix it. I mean, all we have to do is unite the Thief and SS2 community and discuss the problem there exclusively. We can also send all ttlg newcomers with the same problem to discuss it on those threads as well. :)
