I have a strange problem with Thief2 1.18 under Wine 1.0.1 under Interpid. The game starts fine, there is background sound and the menus have proper sound effects; however after a game is started/loaded the sound stops, even in the menus. The whole thing becomes silent.
The "Test Sound" button in Wine Configuration works, settings are ALSA, Full, 44100, 16 and Driver Emulation. Changing to OSS didn't help. Any ideas?

I'm no linux expert (i'm told there's no such thing because it changes all the time ;) I guess Linus Torvalds might count.........:cheeky:).
Anyway I don't know if you're just double clicking the thief 2 icon, but I should use the shell to cd to the thief2 directory, then type the wine thief2.exe in the shell, just so once your sound dissapears you can quit out of the game and check through the window for errors (or paste it here for people to see).
I think intrepids shell has right-click copy and paste, been too much in xterm just lately to remember these things...

Sometimes Pulseaudio can cause issues. You might try killing it and then running the game. I use a custom-build of Wine 1.1.16 (patched for vertex blending), and the game plays fine.
