I can't seem to install WideScreen properly. Last time both DDFix and Widescreen installed OK for me. I had some hardware replacement in my PC (although the same configuration) and now when I install Widescreen it says errors and folds back. Why? How do I install Widescreen properly? I use resolution 1152*864 and included it both in ddfix.ini and cam.cfg files. I use an already edited thief2.exe file for ddfix downloaded from ttlg.
The order in which I do that is the following:
1. Thief2 full install, Dromed
2. Patch Thief2, patch Dromed to 1.18 (modification of user.cfg and cam.cfg files)
3. install ddfix manually: ddfix.dll, ddfix.ini and an already edited thief2.exe from ttlg
4. widescreen copy files, then run widescreen.bat
What's wrong with Widescreen?

on a fresh install of thief, install the WS patch before ddfix.

I appreciate that you replied and try to help. I really do.
No, no... same thing. I tried to first install WS, then DDfix. True, WS seems to go throu this time. Yet the same result, the game runs as far as the menu and intro movie, then when I start a mission it loads and crashes when the mission is to start. I get a bluescreen with some text and numbers, looking weired and it crashes and Windows needs to recover after a system crash. It looks like WS problems, to be honest.
Argh, so sad not to be able to play a game like Thief after all these years! Anyone to suggest something, please?
My system specs:
Athlon 64x2 dual core, Nvidia 9600GT, Win XP
Again, the way I install WS and DDfix is:
* install Thief2, patch it to 1.18.
* DDfix: copy ddfix.dll and ddfix.ini into Thief2 directory. Then I replace thief2.exe with the one downloaded from TTLG. That's it. Should I do anything else?
* WS: I copy all the WS files to Thief2 directory (DarkWideScreen.bat, WeiDu file, widescreen folder). Then I run DarkWideScreen.bat and type in the following:
N
1152
864
100
Y
Enter (if OK)
I have desktop resolution set to 1152*864. I have that resolution in both cam.cfg and ddfix.ini
Strange thing is, I did that exactly as I did last time. I installed Thief approx 2 months ago and it went OK at that time. Now after some hardware fix, I had to re-install everything again. And this doesn't work...
Oh crap... geez... for Builder's sake... sigh...
How can I play the marvelous good'old game of Thief? Why do they produce all these new multi-core computers?? They shouldn't, cuz games like Thief don't run! :eww: :sly:
Anyone to suggest something?

er no, this is very likely something else. Thief would not normally cause a BSOD, so can you take a picture of said BSOD with your phone or camera and post ir on here..?
also can we have your complete system specs with driver versions, a DxDiag print out would suffice..

OK, thanks. You pointed me in the right direction. It wasn't WS or DDfix, it was my Windows installation... After fixing it, I installed Thief2 again and it's OK, although I had to install WS and DDfix in a different order (WS first, otherwise it wouldn't install). Any idea why WS doesn't work when installed after DDfix?

Thats actually how I recommended the order people install them as it goes.

That's funny, I always install them the other way and it works fine... Widescreen even autoadjusts ddfix.ini...
