Well i started out with zonealarm, and had spybot search & Destroy installed...when i ran spybot it always came up with -microsoft firewall bypass- & my firewall would be shut off......

Ah, OK. What you have there is an already compromised system. No matter what firewall you have installed it probably isn't going to help. You need to think about reformatting and reinstalling Windows.
I'd be especially worried since DLL files from software you don't have seem to be present and loading on unrelated software.

Yea i thought that too,so i did reformat and reinstall windows...so far CA spyware scan has not picked anything like that ..yet..but wont let me play thief.........alas poor yorick...

OK, here's how it works. Now that you have reinstalled Windows, you're pretty much safe to use any firewall you like... I for instance use only AVG antivirus and the default Windows firewall. As long as you keep up with updates and don't do anything stupid (like run pretty much any file you get off of OMG WAREZ KEYZ CRACKZ LOL sites), your computer will be secure.
However, it must really be the CA firewall that is causing the trouble if Thief still won't run after a wipe-n-reinstall. Argh. :tsktsk:

Yea i hear ya mudi , i used that avg program bfore & it doesn't detect GROKSTER or mabe it's not supposed to i don't know... A friend of mine said if i'm going to download anything like mp3's or movies i better have peer gaurdian installed ,well i installed it and next time i ran spyware program it came up with GROKSTER. Just can't be safe anywhere on the net...but definetly going through thief withdrawels......
