open ddfix.ini and change the screen resolution there to match what you want to use in game. (Using your desktop resolution is recommended, but anything will do as long as it's 800x600 or above.) If required, you can also turn on the duel core and video fixes here.
Open cam.cfg and edit the game_screen_size line to match the resolution set in ddfix.ini
Cannot find game screen size line above in cam.cfg

For the text editor, you need to search for "ddraw.dll" in the file thief2.exe. The screen should jump to a position in the file, and highlight the text you searched for. Click on the first "d" in "ddraw.dll", and overwrite with your keyboard so that it says "ddfix.dll". Save the file and exit.
For the cam.cfg, you need to run the thief2 game before installing DDFix until it crashes, to get it to create the extra lines such as the game resolution. If running the game until you need to alt+tab back to Windows to see the crash error does not create the extra lines, copy and paste the cam.cfg contents from (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121449) Nameless Voice's 2nd post in the DDFix sticky.
Edit - after reading your DDFix.ini file above, you will need to change the following lines:
gWidth=1280
gHeight=1024
to match those in the cam.cfg resolution Nameless Voice gives. You shouldn't need to change the MultiCore line as you have a single-core 700Mhz CPU.

Maybe your grafic card is to new or has recieved a driver update.I had the same problem with Metal age after driver updates.
In your thief installation directory you will find the USER.CFG file.Open it with the editor , it tells about grafic card compatability,and to "Remove semicolon from next lin".It's worth a try.Worked for me.
(Change this)
;Some video cards may not work properly with Thief 2
;including the intel 810 and the nVidia RIVA 128.
;To fix, remove the semicolon from the next line.
;safe_texture_manager
(To This)
;Some video cards may not work properly with Thief 2

safe_texture_manager
Remeber what you did in case it doesn't work ,so you can change it back.

Hi trigg
Your pc is old enough that you dont need to install ddfix, a complete uninstall and delete should fix it -
1. uninstall thief2 and delete the game folder.
2. install thief.
3. Download and install the indeo 5 codec -(
http://downloads.ttlg.com/download.aspx?id=2461) Found here
4. Click start, then run and type the following " regsvr32 ir50_32.dll "
Those 4 steps will get thief2 working 99% of the time.
What version of thief2 do you actually have btw?
trigger68 on 9/11/2009 at 20:52
Thanks i'll give that a try, although i have deleted and reinstalled many,many times. I believe my version is 1.18..........thanx again

Could you give us the 'module' that the microsoft error message has failing?
It should be "THIEF2.EXE", "THIEF2.ICD", "LGVID.AX", or similar.
