K-Lite doesn't fix it for me. Anyone else have insight on this?

I have ffdshow installed on my Vista machine and needed to tell the program to ignore
Thief.exe,
Thief2.exe and
Shock2.exe within the video decoder configuration menu.
Afterwards, all of the movies played beautifully.
How?

Hilarious story:
I was, just like you, unable to get videos in thief to work. It wasn't until after I installed system shock 2 that, of all the strangest things, videos were functional finally! :erg:

I've been having the same problem recently. What finally worked for me was uninstalling my K-lite codec pack and then reinstalling. Also configuring ffdshow to not be used with thief2.exe. Weird, but true. Although I'm not holding my breathe that it will last.

An old topic, but it fits right where I am. I tried all of the above fixes, and have not had success. I have all the fixes applied, and the game itself looks quite wonderful now, but I only ever had a Thief 2 cutscence play immediately after installation with Indoe 2 and 3 codecs from the K-lite package having also been installed alone and immediately prior to installing Thief 2. I'm at a bit of a loss as to what to do.
I've...
- Installed the K-lite codec pack, once with all options and no success, and once with Indeo 2 and 3 codecs
- Have installed the indeo 5 codecs with the iv5play.exe file
- Have turned off ffdshow for Thief2.exe
- Have installed DDFix(gui) and Widescreen Support Patch
- Poked some options others have claimed to have claimed to have worked within the ddfix.ini file without any apparent change
- Cannot watch the videos from the files in any media player, says codecs are out of date and need to be updated. (This is after iv5play) wmp simply crashed, and kmPlayer only plays the audio.
- Attempting to view the intro from the main menu only results in the screen blinking black for a moment, and returning right back to the main menu.
Is there anyone else who has found a solution beyond these? I think I can be fairly certain that the problem lies with the codecs somewhere, and maybe something not recognizing them that should. It's beyond me why they would recognize it once and play perfectly, then never again.

I have Vista64 and have to set T2.exe to always run as Admin in order to see movies.

I had previously tried this to not much success, but it seems now that it works to run the movies in game. Thanks :)
Though, now I have quite a different problem of the game tabbing out constantly...

Oh, I know exactly what you are talking about... and I have a possible solution (seemed to fix it for me)
Right click your thief 2 shortcut, go to properties, then Compatibility tab. Check Disable Desktop Composition. You might also check the one directly below that. This will switch your theme to Windows 7 Basic, but only while thief 2 is running.

Exactly my problem with Thief Gold. The game plays fine, but just skips over the cut scenes in one black blink. Windows Media Player complains about how the codec can't be read, and VLC says there's nothing it can do about the codec either, but at least it catches the sound.
However... I actually haven't tried messing with ffdshow's permissions and disabling it for Thief, because I've no idea how. I can't find it anywhere in the Properties...
