Seems a bit of a double standard, but that question was more for the Administrators and not the guy calling people nutjobs! :cheeky:

How is it a double standard?
I'll tell you what - you go read all the threads in this forum in detail and see all the stuff that the following 3 posters post, think about it, then come back; jtr7, Goldmoon Dawn and Vae.

While people are continuing to use higher education and fully-grown adult brains to give their teenage fighting tactics a satisfying edge:
Nutjobs? TAKES ONE TO KNOW ONE!

It seems more degrading to call someone a nutjob than to say you need a girlfriend. Apparently there is more under the surface, that I simply dont have the time to research. Cheers TTLG !

Briareros, I do research to find the devs' original intent, knowing full well no one knows the whole story or remembers much in the end, and precisely because the fans are unreliable sources. And good god, are people blind to my intent, yet some feel vein-burstingly turgid in the confidence that they are experts on this jtr7 freak. It doesn't take much to know that antagonizing nutjobs can't improve things for anyone who isn't a nutjob that gets off on it.
TTLG has become a place where geeks are trouble, geeks are a new phenomenon, geeks are some exotic race that must be stopped! Weirdos.

Next time send a PM, respond to the messages you've been sent or use the report button if a post offends you. Using a second account to stir things up and avoid a ban is precisely why multiple accounts are not permitted.Apologies to Alvar for the time off - we have been a bit stricter due to problems elsewhere and he got caught in the crossfire.

Nah man. Your Thief knowledge (of the plot, the characters, the game timeline, the easter eggs, cheats and the devs) is impressive and you often provide information to people that I think few would be able to.
There is nothing wrong with that, that's awesome geekiness that all TTLG can get behind!

GD and Alvar are two different people.

So back on topic, the thing about the lore/canon that worries me the most is the 'toning down of supernatural elements' and it being 'unlikely Garret will encounter the Undead.'
Now i'm aware that in the past the forum has been divided on the topic of the undead/supernatural stuff; some citing TDP as the correct balance, others lauding TMA. I've posted elsewhere that if the changes made to the lore are story driven then i'll accept it. If Eidos has a great story in the offing and the inclusion of wider Thieverse elements would only detract from the plotting of that story then fine, however I believe that TMA had broadly the same aims and was still able to work in plenty of Easter Egg style nods to what people enjoyed in TDP/G.
Hopefully Burricks and (less likely) Craymen will still have a place in Teef (them being very low-fantasy incarnations anyway).
If Teef has swimming, diving, spelunking and real Thieves Highway sections it will automatically be a broader thief experience than Deadly Shadows (and for the record Deadly Shadows had many great missions) but with the exclusion of many of the supernatural enemies I fear the game will begin to fall short in the later missions. If the only enemies Garrett encounters are guards then there are only so many ways they can be kept interesting as opponents as the game goes on. Sure there may still be different types of guards Hammer Guards, Helmet Guards, Thief Guards and the like but after a while avoiding them or taking them down will become routine. The Undead, Chaos Beasts and animals required different play styles to deal with and a sequel should try to expand on what it's predecessors achieved. I'm not typing a TLDR post because I'm just some butthurt self-appointed guardian of Thief canon (though I think all here are guilty of that to some extent), I just think that a diverse set of obstacles enriches the gaming experience.
Examples:
Swimming down to a sunken ship to loot it might be cool-Swimming down to a sunken ship and avoiding a pack of Brainsick Kurshok VS A bunch of Craymen fighting over the treasure aboard is a gaming sensation
Taking the low road through sewers and cellars to get to your objective might be fun-Taking the low road to get to your objective and inadvertantly running into a Hammer Haunt's Crypt (Chill of the grave means Garrett can't grapple with it as it burns to the touch) would be taffin awesome
Spelunking through an ancient cave system can be a blast-Spelunking through an ancient cave system while keeping an eye on the walls, ceilings and making sure NOT TO DISTURB THE WEBS lest.......
(

Yeah, I agree. Ghosts etc give you a reason to be afraid of the dark, humans and other 'normal' enemies give you a reason to be afraid of the light. It's always been a nice feature in the series.
