Thief the Dark Project is a bad game, but Thief 2 and 3 was a step in right direction - by SolidSnakeRoll

But... dinosaurs is where i put my foot down.
I'm guessing you also think TR1 is $hit too then? That has a dinosaur in it and is set in the present day (1996 anyway).

Thief 1 was definitely a bit odd as the game as they switched from making Dark Camelot to a stealth game, and as with many firsts they haven't settled on what works so they had to try a bit of everything. A lot of people say they don't like the supernatural missions like Bonehoard or The Haunted Cathedral as they don't feel "Thief-like" but personally I like them, the game would be a bit too repetitive if every mission was an ordinary burglary mission (which is one of the things I think T2 overcompensated for).
That being said I wouldn't call it bad, it was really well executed and the only mission I'd say that I never really enjoyed playing through is Strange Bedfellows.

A world/city where pet lizards are as common as dogs or cats?
Seems far more fitting to a dark medieval fantasy setting like thief than Karras' steamwork/clockwork robots.
But honestly, they all fit into the universe.
