Yeah this is basically Thief if it had been created today
I think it's best to just leave the Thief series as it is, I have fears of it being destroyed by another studio if they make a 5th Thief game. And the way things are in today's gaming industry, the developers seem to be ignoring the fans more and rather make money from making the game rather than making a game with quality and care.

only way a new thief would work is 2 ways only
1.continue storyline post thief 3
2.a prequal to thief 1 storyline, more about kathra din era/early hammer/keeper/pagan/etc
nothing else would be accepted by a true thief fan

They should have left it alone. I was hopeful in the first days of Nuthief, then after they ignored the community, and decided to create a reboot, that was it. On the plus side, I doubt they'll create another Thief game - Nuthief sales were mediocre, and the game is almost forgotten nowadays. At most, we might see another reboot in 10-15 years.

And sadly, that may never happen anytime soon. So, right now the Thief series is kinda semi-retired at this point.

We can only hope for the best because like I said before, we don't know what could happen next for the Thief franchise.

To be honest, I'm pretty content with FM's and the Dark Mod. If that's all thaty remains, it's more than enough for me

I'm absolutely okay with never having a new Thief game, if it doesn't look as good and faithful as this fan demo was, and if it doesn't play similarly to the originals with, obviously, improved AI and gameplay here and there. I don't really care for a bazillion dollars spent making another mediocre entry like NuThief. I rather things die than having them zombified. I know how I'd do in a zombie apocalypse.
