HAI GUYS I CAN PLAY THIAF FASTER THAN YOU!
Agreed.
It seems most people missed this ? "Get the loot, track your time & beat your friends". That implies that Eidos is encouraging us to run through the levels as fast as possible ? That seems completely against all ideas from the original Thief games.
"Put your skills to the test" .... Yeah, in a game where I can't even fall off a beam at the ceiling ....

The Bank Heist is a standalone side mission, completely separate from the main narrative arch.
This is taken from the EM forums, I believe the competetitive side of this is specific to this DLC mission.

And of course they talk about "homages" to the original T2 bank level to get the diehards all nostalgic and more willing to shell out their 60 bucks.

Preorder missions tend to turn up as DLC sooner or later. The "Tong rescue mission" for DXHR is available for 2 euros on Steam, for instance. The bank mission was one of my favourites in T2, so I'm hoping to get my hands on this one at some point.
Interesting. I've been of the impression that not many people liked that level.

The "gameplay" shots are solidly focused on sneaking, with no action at all.
You mean besides the neck-snapping "stealth takedown"?

You made me re-watch that sequence three times trying to figure out if I had missed anything ...
... and no. Absolutely not. In no way, in any form, would I exclude that bog-standard blackjack sequence which is in no more or less silly then blackjacking in any previous thief title.
Springheel on 26/9/2013 at 00:49
You're saying it's NOT a neck-snapping? It certainly looks like one to me. If it's not, then why is Garrett grabbing the guy's head?
edit: Ok, I stand corrected...after going through frame by frame I see the blackjack swings through the frame after he twists the guy's head sideways (for whatever reason).
Chade on 26/9/2013 at 00:59
Oh, I didn't watch it frame by frame, so you probably have a clearer picture then me now. What I saw was Garrett grabbing the top of his shirt from behind and hitting him on the side of the head with the blackjack.

Hey SE/EM, this would have been a perfect opportunity to show faith and goodwill to the Thief community by releasing the mission as a free demo. What a missed opportunity.
henke on 26/9/2013 at 07:35
It's kinda early for a demo, isn't it? And just because this preorder level exists, I don't see why that would preclude a demo from showing up at some point.
My guess for a demo would be that it'd show up in January, and be the same garden-mission we've already seen in walkthroughs (so as to spoil as little as possible of the full game).
Shinrazero on 26/9/2013 at 07:41
I didn't say it had to be released right this minute but yeah, a demo would be a great way to settle some things. At any rate, I don't really expect a demo. I learned that they can ruin profits. The consumer gets the all risk. :tsktsk:
