As someone that never pre-orders and usually holds off on buying a game until I know the game isn't garbage I think this 'exclusive bank heist level' stuff is the first decision that has actually annoyed me personally out of all of the weird decisions that have been made so far during the games development. With (as far as we know) mod tools not being released it feels like every bit of content that could go into this new game should be there and not just for early buyers. Bank heist missions are among my favorites and that still won't entice me enough to pre-order any game, including the new Thief.
Might be a weird thing to get hung up on after all we've learned about the game but this one actually bothers me.

It will probably come out for non preorder customers to pay for at some point.
I certainly don't intend to preorder the game, not because of any particular opinion I have about the game, I just think preordering is silly. I'm expecting to be able to grab the level at some point of it turns out to be worth it.

I just want to point out that Eidos has never sold a PC game for a base price higher than $50. The $60 prices are usually from console oriented publishers like EA, Activision, Ubisoft, Bethesda, etc. Eidos is kind of an unusual exception. It's really not an amazing deal to get a PC game for $45. Especially one that doesn't look like it's going to be good.
At the moment Thief dropped to #14 on the Steam top sellers list. So it looks like this preorder deal wasn't enticing enough to overcome all the pessimism surrounding this game.

So EM is not confident in their game enough to draw huge sales without resorting to slimy tactics like this?

Pre-order bonuses are pretty common to be fair, regardless of risk. Not that it makes them any less slimy.

Preorder today and unlock Garrett's sultry girlfriend nuVeronika (over 9000 polys (so many polys!) of all natural triple Ds!!!). She will praise your successes and cook you burrick! (Did you hear that Thief fans??) burgers that will reset your health to 100% after every mission!
Use bonus loot to buy her increasingly salacious outfits or bring her along for missions (why not!) and she'll use her healing powers to resurrect you everytime you die! (That sounds like that successful game mechanic from a triple a award winning title that came out in 2013!)

Worst attempt at humour I've ever seen on the internet.
Get over yourselves.

Seems like a good measuring stick.
I like the idea of choke arrows and it references T3, utilising the moss arrows to choke opponents.
