Thief stays minimized on Windows 7

Hey I just installed the game and it won't go full screen. Right now I hear the intro music playing but when I click on the tab in the taskbar nothing happens. So it's running... but I can't get to it. Any ideas?

try (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/22803-desktop-composition-disable-program.html) disabling desktop composition.and try to be more specific-your system specs,fixes you have applied,when exactly did the game minimize,etc..

Okay I fixed it. I had to turn of Windows Aero.

I have this same issue, but this did not fix it for me.

Some specs:
AMD Phenom II X6
Windows 7
ATI Radeon 5700

I've tried:

Desktop composition
Compatability adjustment
DDFIX (I don't think I did this one right, though.)
running it in a window mode
affinity fix
And various patches all over the place

Nothing's worked except for the run command to get the game installed!

You should try to apply a basic or a classic desktop style.

EDIT: I may have spoken too soon. Got carried away, sorry! The briefings work, and the item screen and objective screen work, but the level doesn't load. Well, I'm a bit farther than I was.

make sure you are not using any compatibility modes (particularly win95/98/me).

Ok, now it's really working.

A) No prior Windows compatibility used
B) Disabled Visual themes and Desktop Composition
C) Set Priority to Realtime
D) Set affinity to one processor

*phew* Time to feed my addiction.... Thanks all!
