I don't neither TG nor T2 installed at the moment, and don't have an optical drive in my computer at the moment neither. So, since these games cost next to nothing on Steam right now, I'm thinking maybe I should just buy them there.
Are there any issues with the Steam versions with regards to fan missions, patching, fixes, etc?

the first two games use oldDark, and T2 is the infamous 1.07/1.18 hybrid. so next to unusable without patching, that itself should be off little issue however. T3 should be fairly ok, but will probably require patching as well.

I was planning to patch it all up to my heart's content. What I'm wondering is if there are known issues or problems with the act of e.g. patching up the Steam versions in particular.

Don't install the game in a protected folder
C:\Program Files (x86)
Steam does that

yeah, that is a good advice for any old game, actually.

Thanks. I never install games there anyway.

I have both T1 and T2 on steam and have patched both accordingly and both work perfectly fine.
