I have wanted to try the Thief games for years but wanted to ask here, as a good place to inquire...which are workable on XP? i have an XP SP3 Pro set up, with an Nvida 8600 GT card..... so some of the early titles in the series may not be happy with this...but i wanted to ask. I see there are some patches about..so that may help any advice very welcome :)

All three Thief games are playable in Windows XP. Thief 3 will work straight away. Thief 1 and 2 usually require the (

Personally I alt-tab out of the game and make the exe only use 1 CPU. If I was playing the game all the way through I'd alter the shortcut to force it to run on only 1 CPU. But thanks for mentioning this, I'd forgotten about that.

The intro movie loops indefinitely, making it impossible to start a game. Even if intro movies are disabled in default.ini, the game menu is still inaccessible. It happens not on every dual-core system, but is very frequent though.

Is the THIEF series moddable? and are there mods?
I am really looking forward to seeing it all, many of my fellow game researchers love the series.

There are a few
hundred fan missions, but it's best to play the original levels first.
