Thief runs too fast... - by Vrbas

I forced v-sync in nvidia control panel and put my monitor at 60 refresh rate and the game is still in ultra speed. Hardware is On and Z-buffer is as well (dunno what any of those ancient things mean).
-Windows XP
-8800GT (2 of them but i disabled SLI for this game)
-2gigs RAM
-Core 2 Duo (i disabled one of the cores for this game and it made it run in-game movies and the missions since i figured the Dark Engine would have no idea what to do w/ 2 cores)
Again, not sure what to do so any advice would be appreciated.

Hi. Welcome to the forums. Yes, you did right to disable one core since thief hates 2 cores; it's been talked about extensively on this site. Anyway, perhaps ddfix could be of assistance? Do a forum search for ddfix.

Can't seem to trace any specifics on that search. Is it just a .ini file tinker?

(
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=121449) ddfix.I doubt it will help with the speed problem,it focuses on fixing the graphics issues..anyway,try making an empty sound (wav) file, run it in your media player, pause it,and try running the game with the paused player in background..

It could help. DDfix slows thief down, I'm pretty sure. At least it does on my crappy computer. Besides, it's got a built in multicorefix to disable one of the cores.

Alright, i'll give that a try. Any other options i should keep in mind?
