That would be sad if it weren't so funny.

So is it or isn't it an unsubstantiated rumor that the lead game designer quit right after the game informer special? You can't spin that,
you cannot spin a developer that critical leaving the project this early. Not after all the other departures over the past
5 YEARS.Let me check before I answer, are you talking about Paul Weir?

Yes, of course! Of course they couldnt keep Russell! That guy is nowhere near as "attractive" as the new guy!!!
So, apparently, with this new Focus thing? Um, *cough* you dont only use it to pinpoint body parts during combat anymore. :p Thank GOD we have those soft pouty lips of the new guy, for those extreme 3rd person closeups.
Ahhhh. I think I'm beginning to understand new Thief now. They're planning to make their money back with DLC special rooms for the House of Blossoms. :p

Okay, so it says he left the studio. Not sure what you're asking. You think he left the project early?

OH I GUESS IT ISN'T AN UNSUBSTANTIATED RUMOR. WOULD YOU LOOK AT THIS. WHAT COULD THIS BE I WONDER. ISN'T THAT FUNNY HOW IT'S NOT A RUMOR?!?!?!I wasn't referring to Fleury in particular, he may very well have left... I'm on about the entire article because of it starting with "according to..."

It's probably not typical for a "lead game designer" to leave while a game is still in development.

Right, I get it now. Well, I have no idea about the details regarding Fleury... perhaps B1skit will respond in the same thread on the forum.
I'm no expert on whether or not a lead game designer would leave before release date... I guess it might depend what there is still left to develop perhaps.
Your guess is as good as mine. :cheeky:

Due to a need to hit promotional deadlines, the latter part of 2012 and early 2013 was focused on creating press demos, the first of which was shown for the Game Informer cover and also at last month's Game Developers Conference. According to a source, the demo took nearly 10 months of development time, roughly six of which required the participation of nearly every content creator on the team. The level, which takes place in part inside a brothel, apparently featured "Cinemax-level" sex sequences at one point that some animators were uncomfortable creating.
What a terrible waste of time, allocated to a misguided vision of THIEF.

Many programming tricks were necessary to run the current demonstration, like turning off non-playable character AI — the engine has trouble when too many characters are on screen.
...and serious technical troubles, to boot...I wonder if we will ever see it released.
The Builder is not pleased...and punishes with tribulation, those who seek to mock the greatness of THIEF...:ebil:

In March of this year, the same month as the game's publicity push on the cover of Game Informer magazine, Lead Game Designer Dominic Fleury left the studio.
Yet another team leader leaves EM...This is not looking good at all...:tsktsk:

Right on cue, there's thiefessa with her pathetic "nothing could possibly be wrong with Thief/EM" attitude. So predictable. I'm starting to wonder if she's just a bot.

Yeah, there's really no good way you can spin this.
Yet, the EPB unit has no choice but to try.
