This comment makes me a bit skeptical. They wouldn't risk limiting their sales by having explicit sex scenes. That and the fact this comes from an "anonymous source" makes me rather suspicious.

Many programming tricks were necessary to run the current demonstration, like turning off non-playable character AI — the engine has trouble when too many characters are on screen.
This, I could believe.

And that has me worried. It reads so much like (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g1orK2qj_9k) the stuff Gearbox pulled with that fantasy Aliens Colonial Marines demo. Look how that game turned out.

Due to a need to hit promotional deadlines, the latter part of 2012 and early 2013 was focused on creating press demos, the first of which was shown for the Game Informer cover and also at last month's Game Developers Conference. According to a source, the demo took nearly 10 months of development time, roughly six of which required the participation of nearly every content creator on the team. The level, which takes place in part inside a brothel, apparently featured "Cinemax-level" sex sequences at one point that some animators were uncomfortable creating.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.
Are you kidding me? They blew 10 months working exclusively on a tech demo? The actual game hasn't even entered production yet?
"Cinemax-level" sex scenes?
Holy hell this has exceeded even my expectations for Eidos screwing up. I expect some heartfelt apologies from the Eidos apologists to those of us who called it. Because dear lord did we ever call it. Fingers crossed Square Enix see's this for the catastrophe that it is and just cans the abomination outright. It's not like they have a product that could be shipped any time soon. :D

So all these glowing reviews of how awesome the stealth was, were in levels where
the AI wasn't even enabled? This is going to be a case study about the dying years of the AAA industry and the sell-out media that tried to keep it on life support.

In March of this year, the same month as the game's publicity push on the cover of Game Informer magazine, Lead Game Designer Dominic Fleury left the studio.
LOL. :joke:

Now I know why they have such a vague "2014" release date. I will not be surprised if the game releases december 2015.
But they'll be at E3, so we'll see what they have to say there.

We've heard that Eidos will show the game publicly for the first time at this year's E3 in June.

I wouldn't expect an apology from anyone, but I do hope everyone has the ability to realize that a multi million dollar AAA title stuck in development for 5 years is not a good sign. The TDM team achieved in evenings and weekends over 5 years, what the pros haven't been able to achieve in 5 years working full time. What a huge waste of money. They'll never make their money back at this rate.

This is an old rumour that's had another stir.
As soon as I read "According to anonymous sources...", I lost interest. :laff:

We need to have a whip round (which I think is called 'kickstarter' these days) and see if we can buy the copyright, which can then go to TDM. We raised quite a bit for these forums a while ago, so I'm sure we could get a few thousand quid together. SE might want more than that, but tough.
Edit: Don't get me wrong, I would like to see a good Thief 4, but right now it's more hope than expectation.

There's a lot of doom and gloom in that article - to the point where you wonder if New Thief will ever see the light of day (sorry, bad pun). Seriously though, this coupled with other things we've heard in the past about people leaving the studio does not sound very good. As skeptical as I am about some of the stuff we've heard about New Thief, I still want to see the game actually be released and I was hoping it would at least be decent.
Edit: Right on cue, there's thiefessa with her pathetic "nothing could possibly be wrong with Thief/EM" attitude. So predictable. I'm starting to wonder if she's just a bot.
