Actually the Fire Mages think it's Heaven, and not in an ironic evil way, but purity (similar to how the Hammers see fire as a way to burn and aid in forging away flaws).

I correct myself. Apparently the Eternal Fire is the source of life, or the beginning of it, or something mysterious like that, but I still don't think it's Hell. More like the Pagans returning to the Green, people dying and being taken up by the earth, translated into or feeding plant life. A clean slate, purity, mayhaps innocence.
