I have a friend who has never played Thief but wants to start. She has a mac, though. Does anyone know the latest tech stuff necessary to get the OMs and FMs running on a mac? I know there are programs such as Bootcamp, Crossover and Playonmac but I don't know what is involved, nor how New Dark/Tfix/Tafferpatcher would work. Anyone?

not quite sure whether TFix will work via wine, but a T1/TG install that has been TFixed and then copied over should work properly with wine. you may have to enable windowed mode in cam_ext.cfg to start up properly.

Thanks, I'll pass it along. I suspect I'll be doing some hand holding through this process, but I don't know much about this stuff so I'll likely be back with more questions.

If you're running newer games, it is. For older games, it's pretty alright.
I ran Thief in Wine back during my Linux experiment, and it worked perfectly right out of the box, without any tweaking or futzing about whatsoever. Assuming Wine on the Mac is about the same, Tannar's friend shouldn't have any problems playing the game.
This was with the NewDark based GOG version, by the way.
